A video of a black teenage girl being dragged to the ground by a white police officer is being widely shared online, and has become the latest talking point in the debate over police and race relations in America.

"Sir, we just came for a birthday party - please sir," says one teenager who's been ordered to sit on the ground. The video, shot Friday evening in McKinney, Texas, a city about an hour away from Dallas, shows a confrontation between a group of teenagers and two police officers.

But the pleas don't placate one of the officers who's seen shouting and ordering a group of girls around. He wrestles one of the girls to the ground, pinning her down with his knees. He also pulls his gun.

The incident seems to have tapped into the ongoing debate over race and police brutality in America - the 7 1/2 minute video has been watched millions of times, including 10m views on Facebook and nearly 3m on just one of many versions on YouTube.

I am a white guy and I have had cops pull their guns on my twice after being pulled over. Both times they ended up letting me off with a warning because I wasn't actually doing anything wrong. But both times they ran full sobriety tests on me while backup had their guns drawn. Fucking weird. Though I guess I am still alive because I am either lucky or white.

One of those times I had a full case of beer on my back seat and I was only 18 but the cop didn't notice that. He just kept asking me if I was high (which I wasn't).

There was a fight between an older woman(white) and one of the female teens(black). Most of the teens had a pool pass(not all). Cop was going fucking ballistic though running around like a fucking chicken with his head cut off then drawing his fucking gun on teens..

That black girl that he ends up handcuffing at some point in the video was trying to beat the shit out of some 40ish yr old white woman and cops got called. But yea that one officer got into the evidence room and got a bit coked up before he went out for that call I think. If you look for a bit you can see a Vine that was up of the fight that happened prior to the call. Legit shocked officer action roll didn't shoot anyone in the face that day.

“I said ‘Excuse me?’” Rhodes said. It was then, she says, that one of the women approached her and hit her in the face. The other woman then joined the attack, Rhodes said.

With respect to the two quotes in your post I am not so sure it is as cut and dry that some uninvited teens started a ruckus and that is why the cops were called. I read one report that said the older woman was yelling racial slurs at the teens then at some point hit/slapped the one girl in the face which prompted the fight. Who knows which account is correct though. At this point you will hear whichever version from people depending on who they want to support.
