It's still around in the bay area. Our last complex was 50% section 8. The other half was full priced and when we left in 2012, they were wanting almost 1700 for a small one bedroom. It's now over 2K to rent there if you are not section 8.

The fact that someone is paying that much for a small one bedroom apartment in a building makes me feel better about my rent. I have a 2 bedroom, 2 floors with a backyard and driveway in NYC and it's less than 2k.

Just doing a quick rent.com search of our old zip code of 94568, 2100-3700 is the typical price range to rent, and I even found a house asking for 8500 a month on there.

Kind of off topic but, couple months ago front page news up here of a Hydro-One worker (electrician I assume), was at a TFC game(MLS soccer) and was taunting a reporter, said some stupid shit like "fuck her right in the pussy" or something, can't remember exactly, but he got fired right away as a result of it, even though he wasn't at work

I'm shocked to see a major employer do nothing when someone posts some racist shit like that. Even where I work, if our HR department got wind of something like that you'd pretty much well be gone instantly

Section 8 might not be the program or whatever but I install TV cable and phone and I go into these "affordable apts" all the time and although it's mostly black and Hispanic it's definately not that ghetto .. Usually it's normal apartment buildings where the acting a fool types are .. Always see 10 adults kicking it outside in the courtyard on a Tuesday at 10 am
