It's a problem if someone is wrongly convicted which does happen.

Even if it is 1/100000 I bet all the money in the world you won't be lining up to be that 1.

14yos fucking 14yos and the kid gets tried as an adult might be skewwing the time too.

I once had a case of a 17 year old titled with child pornography for having nude pics of his 14 year old girlfriend. A couple who were allowed by law to be sexually active, which they were.

I can see how it would be a slippery slope. I guess I just hope that in this day and age there's not that many instances of false convictions but I haven't done the research.. I know 3 people who were molested by adults so my opinion is colored by the pain and issues they still have to this day..

Is the chance some one is wrongfully convicted >0%? Then coercing them into an irreversible procedure to prevent them from reproducing is cruel and unusual, in my book.

An article I was reading on this stated there were something like 9 known wrongful convictions in known timescales. Dont have source on me though so grain of salt.

You also have to keep in mind that if you're a sexually active adult male, depending on your personality you will be told by any number of women that they've been raped or molested. I think in probably 17 or so instances, there's only one claim that I'd give the benefit of the doubt.

This isn't even isolated just to these kinds of crimes either it's everywhere. There's a huge push to push people thru the courts faster so offering and convincing them to take plea deals happens a lot.

I know someone who took a plea agreement that got them 0 time in prison, then it got used against them in a civil proceeding to prove liability. Shit's terrible.

You can pretty much blame the disarray most public defenders offices are in. Not enough lawyers, too many cases = hey you should plea out and save yourself the hassle. Took my brother about 10 years to fix the mistake a plea bargain was for him a week after he turned 18

I wouldn't really doubt that is the number "known" but on the other hand in cases like this it is incredibly difficult to prove someone innocent after "proven" guilty. You pretty much wont ever get out of it unless the accuser recants and good luck with that
