RIP my weekend, we're restricted to post on Gordon due to all of the shit happening in Augusta (came down from brigade during safety briefing). Apparently there's a planned BLM protest downtown this weekend and top doesn't want us anywhere near it.

I can't help but think that one of the shooters being an army vet probably didn't help, even though he was probably a shitter seeing as how he was still a PFC after 6 years in.

Yeah, just double checked and he was reserves. I'm guessing he may have been held up due to slots (from what little that I know on promotions in the guard/reserves) then, but still, 6 years TIS/probably 4+ years TIG and still not auto-making specialist generally means something is up.

For example the Missouri shooter was already on probation for weapons charges and may have thought killing the cop was the only way to stay out of prison. We'll have to see how many of these shooters were motivated by anti-cop shit.

I could have sworn I read an article that said he had been on a combat tour in Afghanistan and had an Operation Enduring Freedom service commendation. Do reservists normally do that? Serious question. I thought reservists were all about the 1 weekend a month and two weeks a year deal, not actively going into deployment.

Serious question. I thought reservists were all about the 1 weekend a month and two weeks a year deal, not actively going into deployment.

I was assuming he was active duty, did a tour of Afghanistan, finished, and then became a reserve, but I don't know that for sure.

I have never detonated a device on a living dude, closest i came was stabbing a suicide bomber in the ass while he still had a 15lb vest made out of PE4 and ball bearings, with a 4inch bench made knife while we were trying to cut the vest off (dude was alive and tied to a tree by the local police, long story...)

I personally don't know how i feel about this... on a moral level as an EOD tech, as a human who closesly watches mankinds technological progress, and as a first responder who understand why it was done. They could have equiped a shot gun on the robot in question (supposedly an Andros F6A, i've blown up 3 of them in iraq) and used that to end his life. Using explosives was, imo, un-necessary.
HOWEVER.
I wasn't there. None of us were, we're on a video game website arm chair quarterbacking a situation that none of us have any real idea about (well some of us have some ideas clearly, some more experienced based than others). I can hopefully answer some questions about the robot if ya'll have them, but as to what they did, and how they did it, i won't know that till the report comes out next week.

Was at Doc Hollidays at nearly closing time today and watched a 70-80 year old lady with a walker come in and drop 3 grand for two AR-15s. Here in Southern Oregon. Like the whitest county in the whitest state.

Just watched Trumps speech about the events. I have to give the guy kudos, he has really good writers. Listening to it, if I hadn't already known of all the rhetoric he spews and his constant flip-flopping on issues and his blatant racism and etc etc, I most likely would have bought into it completely. I can't help but wonder how much steam his campaign can pick up if he starts to run with this "Make America Safe Again" theme.

I also watched Dallas Mayor Rawling's speech from the prayer service. Really good, very impassioned. Having no idea about the man himself or his political views or anything like that, again I was on the verge of sinking my teeth into it and getting all passionate about it. But fuck, watching that Trump speech is making me question the authenticity of his words. I'll probably be waaay more skeptical about all this stuff from here on out lol

Anyway, worth a watch regardless if you haven't seen it yet
