    Don't think they carry Tasers.

I would have stood on top of some stairs to get away from him personally but that's just me.

I can't remember where I read it but there was a psychologist who was doing mental rehab work for police/fire and military. He published an article that outlined police officers and their mental stability after killing people. There's almost a 75% chance if a police officer kills someone in the line of duty, they're likely to kill someone again. Built up memories of their first killing and repressed terror from the incident can come out and cause them react faster to a deadly force incident with deadly force over a fresh recruit who has never killed anyone before.

While I joke about this incident and think I would have done better, I can't absolutely say for sure I wouldn't do the same thing. Close quarters shit is tricky. Low lighting, aggression, and a weapon are some pretty bad combinations of a shitty day, even if it is a pen. A lot of terrible and horrible officer deaths have happened recently so it's put me on edge and I notice it amongst my peers. With that recent ambush murdering of those officers in Britain, a lot of the conspiracy theories are working around the Law Enforcement community like when the Washington State killings happened. Too many "random" police murders of ambushings and back killings for it to be "random" or a "coincidence".

Plow would definitely be more likely to say he would let someone kill him with a pen before he did something to defend himself.

I want to get all indignant and rage about how the cop was wrong. I find it incredibly hard to believe that any officer in the world would feel threatened by a cripple, with missing limbs, in a wheelchair, with a small item in his hand. Even if they could not identify the item, how the fuck would their judgement be so impaired that they could not see how small the item in his hand was?

THIS PART OF THE POST IS MEANT TO BE SARCASTICALLY INFLAMMATORY FOR A LAUGH.

Maybe this whole thing should be blamed on the person that placed the call for police in the first place? Or maybe even on the crippled guy himself...if he had never gotten out of control then the employee would have never had to call the police. So there! It's not the cop's fault at all!

    Edit:
Dry sarcasm is lost on some people...............................

Anyone who blames the amputee in a wheel chair with the pen is a fucking joke on society.

Ahh I love how Rhinox just assumes I blindly condone everythings cops do. From what little I read on this as I was moving over the weekend, all I could do is shake my head and go loltexas. Unless that pen was acid tipped or the other cop was a midget and was about to lose an eye, I can't see any way to justify this. Yes the anti cop shit is retarded, and I got to see plenty of it when the CHP officer was ambushed and killed a couple weeks ago when he pulled someone over and people were bitching about the freeway being shut down, but in this case here, unless there's something that's not being released to the media, cop is going to lose his job over this, and deservedly so.

See above. It was a joking reference to how some people on this board try to defend the police to the bitter end by pointing the finger somewhere else.....

If they wanted to catch a break, they'd probably stop gunning down 83 year old women in their backyards.

Well you can tell that article was pretty much spun to be anti cop. My question is this, and this is assuming what has been released is true, when is it justified then for a cop to open fire? When a gun is pointed at them? When they have been shot at? When they have been shot? I'm legitly curious to this since out here in the bay area, especially oakland which is very anti cop you could have a dead cop and it's still unjustified to return fire.

If you have a gun pointed at some cops, you're gonna get shot. I am ok with this.

That's my line of thinking. Gun doesn't give a shit if the person holding it is 83 or 11. If you have a weapon and police tell you to put it down, you put the fucking thing down. If what the police said is true (and I guarantee each side is going to spin shit to make them look more favorable) then this was basically a case of suicide by cop.

Unless she is sighting in on the cop and they're in a shouting match, deciding to shoot some 83 year old paranoid hobag is probably not smart.

If I was a lawyer I'd say the grandma couldn't hear a damn thing the cops were saying 'cause she forgot her earring-aid inside. Play that helpless granny shit for all it's worth for mad dolla billz.

What does a shouting match have to do with it? If they told her repeatedly to put it down and she raises her gun up and points it at them, they should still not be ready to fire? At that point all it takes is a slip of her finger and you have a dead cop.

Because it would show that she in some way understands the instructions she has been given? Can hear the cops? Has any idea what is happening? If there's one-way communication and she's not being super aggressive with her gun, why would they even think she understands them?

I mean, the obvious option is to simply move away from her. How accurate do you think an 83 year old really is at 50 feet with a pistol? Do you think she can track a moving target?
