A member of the public was filmed being tackled to the ground and stabbed during the 'riot' - as hundreds of others fled in horror

A police officer was stabbed and another was smashed in the head with a bottle last night after a 'water fight' in Hyde Park exploded into violence.

Two members of the public were also knifed during the 'riot', which took place in the famous London park on the hottest day of the year.

This morning, footage emerged appearing to show one of the victims being tackled to the ground and stabbed in the middle of the street.

In the video, posted on Twitter, the man can be seen writhing around on the ground as he is attacked by two thugs - just feet away from a red double decker bus.

Moments later, the attackers run away, leaving him clutching his stomach in pain.

Bystanders watched in horror yesterday as officers were pelted with bottles and other missiles, while youths reportedly chanted: "Black Lives Matter".

Idk man if I was getting mad at the perceived threat to my life by some cops and wanted to do something extreme I'd ya know take to carrying to defend myself and my own when something happens. Heck depending on the situation you might actually be fine legally. Or if you want to be more proactive go after the ones that have done stuff. I don't blame either of the officers in this situation. The female officer requested that he put his hands up, but the guy went straight for her gun. She struggled with him to retain control of the weapon and then the other officer stopped him without allowing harm to come to his fellow officer or bystanders.

Once the guy had his hands on the female cop's gun, which shouldn't have happened, the situation wasn't going to end well and you can't really blame the second cop for killing the guy. Bullets were being fired from an uncontrolled weapon, there were a lot of potential casualties around, and there was one casualty who clearly caused the situation.

That said, the female cop's response to the guy ducking his head out the door was stupid at best. She elevated the situation from "crazy guy on bus" to lethal conflict and lost control of her weapon. That's some combination of poor training and poor planning.

Try as they might, you can't weed everyone out in the hiring process/academy. For every police officer opening, depending on the size of the agency and area, you are already weeding out a few hundred people at minimum. The academy for the office I used to work at starts in August. After doing the weeding out of just straight applicants, they invited about 90ish people for a physical fitness assessment. Out of those, only about 60ish were invited back to round two. And this was starting with a couple thousand people applying. Next academy since they handle the academy for all the other local agencies is going to have over 150 people between all the agencies. 70-80 of them will complete it. The other half will wash out at one point or another.

Anybody manage to find a link to the whole video? I want to hear what a man saying "I don't know" upon being asked why he just shot someone sounds like. Is it emotionally detached, rattled and afraid, or aggressive and unthinking?

Also, I'm starting to get the impression that we need to change the way dispatchers relay information. The disparity in reaction between "suspicious person" and "person with a gun threatening suicide" is just obscene, and the fact that they're so goddamn aggressive to people they think are a danger to themselves when those people need compassion is incomprehensible to me.

The dude was literally shouting that he's a behavioral therapist and that the other guy is autistic and holding a toy truck. He's in the fucking ground with his hands up. The other one is sitting. Anyone with even a single eyeball can tell right away that this isn't a situation where you need your guns out and safety's off. There is no justification for what happened. And there sure as fuck wasn't justification for handcuffing him after they shot his ass.

People need to be fired for this. People need to be charged with attempted murder for this. Police have great power but also great responsibility in exchange for that power. If you fuck up to this magnitude, you should expect your life to be ruined, because you very nearly ruined someone else's life. And it's bullshit that this hasn't happened yet. If I were a police officer, I would be mad as hell, because these fucking idiots are putting my life in danger. Every time someone gets it in their head that it's better to shoot a cop than even risk having this done to them, you have cops like these to blame. Stop circling the wagons. Stop trying to shield people from blame. You fucked up? You pay the fucking price.
