There is nothing that justifies the shooting or the remarks, but IF they were screaming at him to not go towards his car then he was definitely warranting a taze as having your hands up does not entitle you to wander around against orders.

To play devil's advocate, I cannot imagine it's standard police protocol, if your gun is drawn on a suspect, to have them walk back to their car with their hands up to get their paperwork. Its important in police shootings, especially now with how volatile the tension is between African Americans and the police, to wait for the facts to come out and let the justice system run its course.

That being said, I usually side with the cops but this looks bad from almost every aspect and I cannot imagine it was a clean shoot. Would be shocked if it was.

not only this, but our standards for police officers have gotten so far out of whack. basically if there is any reasonable possibility that a police officer might have theoretically felt their life was in danger, deadly force is justified under the law. I understand that police officers face deadly situations on a regular basis and that their standards for use of deadly force should be different from the general public (imo) but there needs to be some level of responsibility for the lives they are supposed to serve and protect. if you can't accept that your job is dangerous, then don't do it - it's not ok to kill someone because your dumbass thought a cell phone looked like a gun, and our laws should reflect that.
