One of our cops got dragged by a vehicle last night and the suspect is still on the run. He got pulled over by a sgt. at like 10pm for traffic violation, gave officer his license and registration, gets ran for warrants. He's got two. Officers ask him to step out of vehicle, he says nope, locks door, officer reaches in to try and open it from the inside and the guy puts in drive and takes off dragging officer 50 feet - no injuries luckily and refused medical attention.

Its now on facebook with his picture, they have everything from make/model/color of vehicle to license plate etc. They get everyone they post on social media.

Last officer that got dragged by a vehicle was a town over at the DMV, he wasn't as lucky and got run over but was ok.

The officer who shot Philando Castile has been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter and a couple other charges.

The investigation allegedly shows that Castile was not reaching for his gun, had a valid permit to carry it, and was reaching for his drivers license therefore deadly force was not justified.

This, they handled it near perfectly, record it, don't escalate, and take it to court/media later with proof. Intervening would result in the worst possible outcome. Short of seeing a cop beat someone to death with their fists in front of dozens of witnesses intervening would probably never help.

Not only that but an elderly protester is in critical condition after a rubber bullet hit and another protester is going to have an arm amputated after being hit directly with a flash grenade. There was live streaming of the whole thing going down last night and it is clear that the news and the press conferences do not match the reality of what is going on.

Do you think that this level of force is necessary on peaceful protesters?

Also shooting people in the head/groin with rubber bullets and beanbags and throwing concussion grenades directly at people is questionable use of force. Those are not typical uses for those devices as far as I know.

That's not quite what I meant - I mean that if they are to use that level of force and the public accepts it, there's nothing I can do about it. What bothers me more is that they know how wrong it is and thus lie about it, and the vast majority have no clue what's really going on. It doesn't help that the mainstream media is completely avoiding the topic, which I find both fascinating and highly suspicious. This is the biggest news story of the year aside from Trump, but no one is saying anything.


Or to put my statement another way: If they were forced to be completely honest about it, they wouldn't be using these tactics.

I would agree with this except these protests are peaceful and there's no reason to be beaning people with such weapons.
