I mean
c'mon
He was pulled over at least 46 times in his life, and when you see the ultra-flimsy racist-as-fuck justification the officer gave to the dispatcher on his radio for the final stop, it's not particularly surprising how that happened."Two occupants just look like people who were involved in a robbery," he said. "The driver looks more like one of our suspects, just because of the wide-set nose."
Eh, a dashcam vid wouldn't have audio of the cop asking for the man's license, right? (legitimately don't know if they have audio)
and we wouldn't see mr castile's reaction, what he said, his 'reaching', etc
but we sure as hell would see the officer firing into the car
I see how even if it went down how I'm reading it went down it would do nothing but incite the public
And it's like, when a cop is doing pretty blatant on-its-face racist shit like that, and then a minute later says he's afraid for his life because of a black guy reaching somewhere, it's hard not to think that the cop's racism is contributing to his fear.
It's almost as if being racist is a valid defense for shooting someone if you're a cop. "I was afraid for my life" (because I'm racist and think black people are violent) is the only reason this guy got off.
This decision is stupid. "I was afraid".
Well, don't be a racist pile of shit. Then you won't create situations where you are a police officer who shoots at their own shadow.
Sorry America is racist.
Dashcam video will be released later today.
Long overdue.
Damn.
that is manslaughter at best. no clue what the jury was thinking.
Wow, he literally just pulled and shot, i don't even have words for this.
That law needs to be changed.
Also, I don't think it's reasonable to assume you are afraid for your life when a person calmly and politely informs you - which is NOT legally necessary - that they have a concealed weapon, even if you think they might be reaching for it. The man who is going to shoot you isn't going to politely inform you beforehand that he has a gun.
am I hearing this correctly?
after asking for id/insurance and receiving something,
philando: sir i have to tell you i do have a firearm on me
cop: ok, don't reach for it though (gun is getting drawn/hand on gun)
cop: don't pull it out
philando: imma have to pull it out
cop: don't pull it out (reaches into the car with left hand, then pulls back and fires)
so philando had (best case scenario) his gun blocking access to either his id/insurance and.. did what he did?
idk how this is such a heinous act
He's pulling out his ID. Cop was so afraid any movement towards his wallet was thought as his gun.
