Back when I was in patrol, the CEO of one of the banks in the NW sector of D.C. called in the same group of homeless people every day on his way to work at around 6am. They would usually jockey for front row seats at the entrance of Metro subway exits to panhandle the morning rush. Big money for those guys. This guy was a particular set of serious asshole about the homeless though. He would stay on scene to make sure officers would tell them to move along and in the process, he would make sure he sat there and yelled at all of them to get jobs and stop being so sloppy, etc.

And don't be an aggressive panhandler. He seriously beat the shit out of one guy and he (homeless dude) had to go to the hospital. Witnesses all said the homeless guy ran up to the CEO dude and assaulted him and the CEO was just defending himself. Well outside of this Metro stop, there was a camera overlooking the entrance. The tapes were taken for it but no one looked at them because hey, it's a homeless guy. Should be open and shut right? Wrong. CEO guy pours money in to the city and suddenly we got a 24 hour detail to watch that one particular Metro station and clean out the homeless. Even the Transit Police were included so almost a 20 person detail just because one guy didn't feel safe. He badgered all the cops daily, swinging his little smug briefcase acting like he was top shit of the world because he was paying cops to do what he wanted.

Well someone got brilliant and decided to check the tapes to follow up. Tapes showed the CEO guy walks out of the Metro, see's the guy sitting on a crate next to the escalators, runs up to the guy and kicks his crate out from under him. Homeless dude stands up and CEO starts beating him down with his briefcase. I believe the USAO decided to drop the charges on the homeless guy and filed a warrant for the CEO. Homeless guy ends up not pressing charges and CEO get's off, but the homeless are back trying to earn a bit of change at that Metro station now. CEO guy still calls in from time to time to complain about them but we mostly ignore him and make sure we hand off some sandwiches and hot coffee to the homeless around that station in the mornings around 6am just for shits and giggles.

My house is on a steep as fuck hill, and one of the benefits is that nobody wants to walk up it, much less a homeless person with a shopping cart. However, there are multiple homeless people 24/7 at the CVS pharmacy at the bottom of the hill, hitting everyone up for change, despite the no loitering signs everywhere. The fucking security guard stands just inside the entrance and doesn't do shit about it. Pisses me off.

Hurts my ability to concentrate on which flavor of Arizona tea I want to buy as I make my way through the automatic doors(that never seem to quite open fast enough for me) and into the uncomfortable 72-degree air-conditioned building.

As long as those bums keep getting money from suckers with a guilty conscience, they'll keep buying booze from that CVS and they'll give a shit less.

Hey now, that's not fair. Sometimes the baby decides to come NOW, and you'll notice she was early. They were en route to the hospital, didn't make it. Happens all the time. Only difference is this couple pulled over at a sensible location, instead of on the side of a busy highway where they're all alone and the slightest moment of inattention on the part of passing motorists could kill them.
