You're not breaking the law by drinking tea in the parking lot of the shop you just bought it in. You don't need to just leave if some asshat tells you to if they don't provide proof of who they are.

This is very true, and I'm sure the charges will end up getting dropped in court when the video arises.

However, if a store clerk or store security does ask you to leave the premise then you gotta go. Doesnt matter if you just purchased something from the store.

Or just be wary regardless if they are plainclothes or the next Ted Bundy? Someone being anyone telling you to fuck off means its now my legal requirement to leave?

I'm just more impressed this dude was able to keep that can balanced in his hand while getting rolled around.

Really people? From a. the fact that the guy from the store was asking what it was and didn't recognize it, b. the fact that the dude said to go down to the gas station if he wants to see it, c. the fact that he said at one point "but I was gonna go in and buy something!"... You really didn't grasp the fact that he didn't buy it there?

Am I arguing with people that don't even read, or in this case watch the fucking video again?

And I'm sorry, but when a guy comes out of a business where you're standing around in the parking lot and tells you to leave, and tells you he's the police, yes, you do have to leave.

Yeah, I'm sure he was totally concerned that the guy coming out of a liquor store to tell him to leave might be "the next Ted Bundy" as he stood there with 1 guy videotaping him and another walking by, in a business's parking lot with a lot of cars, right next to a main street, in daylight.

    lol

I see all of a sudden why people keep bringing up you "plowing the thread" everywhere else.

Have you ever been to a liquor store? I guarantee you they most definitely carry Arizona Ice teas there.

    Guy from the store
The guy was the undercover cop. He didn't work at the store, and he most definitely wouldn't know every single item they keep in stock. And once again, no you don't fucking need to leave just because some guy claiming to be a cop tells you to. He needs to provide a badge. And if he had done that, I would definitely agree that you should leave.

Bad situation made even worse by the guy not identifying himself by producing something. Might've been off-duty to guard the store or something but you still need to carry creds. As much as it pains me (because of obvious sighting of the badge sticking out from under your shirt against the hard plate of your vest), we're mandated to keep our badge on a chain around your neck if you're plainclothes. Deep undercover you don't carry anything that would identify you as a police officer in the event that you're captured. Usually a backup officer is nearby and you're almost always on camera so you have to carry something.

Too many officer involved shootings where the undercover is killed by a uniform because the plainclothes unit had a gun or went reaching for their badge (which most cops clip to their belt beside their gun) and get shot by the responding units. The theory is if the badge is around your neck, there's less likely a chance to get shot since most people hide guns in their waistband or pants pocket. By showing your hands and dropping the weapon and carefully peeling the badge out of your shirt, most officers won't see that as a deceptive maneuver to kill them. You're trained as an officer not to trust anyone (sometimes even your own) unless officers produce credible identification and with that knowledge, I can't blame ordinary people for not trusting people. Hell where I grew up, we had impersonators that ran the streets shaking down kids (mules) for drugs, money, weapons, even clothing.

There was one guy who ran around the suburbs just outside of D.C. with a fully equipped "police" Crown Victoria pulling people over and issuing citations. He did the same shit where he'd shake people down and pretend to "arrest" them and would pretend he was calling for backup then suddenly leave stating he had another emergency and would "give people warnings". He pulled over a Heights Sergeant who was off duty and she called him out on his bullshit because he was very shaky when she pulled her own badge out. Come to find out he was a dishonorably discharged MP who kept his military creds. Ended up running from the cops when they stopped him and almost caught a bullet when he tried to grab his little painted BB gun.

That was a perfect example of a situation where it's reasonable to beat the shit out of the police officer and be within your rights.

We should compare bug out bags one day. I imagine they're eerily similar.

It would take too long to get to the woods where I'm at now. Where I was before, we actually had a pretty solid plan of how to get there, who had what, extra supplies in the vehicle, etc. The only thing we didn't have was ammunition for the rifles but that's not a difficult fix when we can stop by someones house and stock up. Our spot was great, fresh water (and would be non-irradiated, or have the possibility of being non-irradiated since it would be glacial), it had one ingress and was very tucked away and provided natural shelter from the winds in the winter. It was off natural lines of drift as we would say.

    Spoiler: show

But, I was bored so this is basically it.

Yeah, I know why people say I "plow the thread," too. It's because I actually watch the videos we're discussing, read the articles, etc., and reply with facts and valid arguments.

And then people like you either a. don't watch the video/read stuff/know wtf and talk about it anyway, or b. simply aren't smart enough to make the necessary inferences to comprehend.

And when they realize they've made fools of themselves they just go hur durr plow plowin.

I mean, I could go into how you can see him gesture towards the door and say something about someone coming out, and how that shows the guy came out of the store (hence one of the cops that posts here a lot mentioning that he's probably an off duty working security), just like how I explained how it's extremely clear he hadn't bought that shit at the liquor store...

Or you could watch the fucking video before you try to talk shit based on me being plow.

I like it. Only thing I'd add is one of those nifty solar chargers that don't need full exposure to charge and some rechargeable batteries. Maybe 50 feet or so of parachute cord. Also a pair of good solid backup boots. Never liked my feet getting wet and always carried a spare in a plastic bag and took out my N109 suit. Don't need that shit.

I'm not sure if this counts as "Ridiculous Police News," but in the middle of the day on a Friday, today, a man was involved in a robbery, chased into a random house in South Minneapolis (which happened to be the home of a Minnesota Public Radio Producer), where he shot and injured 2 police officers. The man was eventually brought down and killed. Kind of crazy for South Minneapolis (North Minneapolis is a different story), so we were all on our toes listening to what happened.

That's all I had heard, until I made my way to the Rock Climbing gym after work where I frequent, and a bunch of roads were totally blocked off. Took me an hour to park and get the the gym. I walked right by the scene of an accident where a motorcyclist was dead on the ground, with police playing cleanup. First time seeing a dead body :-/ pool of blood, etc. Guess an officer responding to the first incident ran a red light to get to the scene and clipped a motorcyclist who had the green light. Driver dies, woman on the back is in the hospital. Not a lot of details yet, other than rider having no helmet and flip flops....

    http://www.startribune.com/local/min...206975601.html

Not sure how I feel about it yet. It's a huge priority for officers to get to the scene of the crime, and it's certainly within their power to run a red light, and I know they usually exercise caution even when they do. Guess evidence will let us know if the motorcyclist just wasn't paying attention or if the officers weren't paying attention and just blew through the light.

Bit of a bummer for a Friday to walk past that scene.

They have devices that change the lights. I've seen them do it... and hold it the way they want it for hours. Why wasn't that used?
