I haven't heard of houses being stormed. Typically you see them show up and immediately set up a perimeter, get surrounding houses evacuated for safety, and in which case they will begin to attempt to make a connection with the people in the house. Yea, typically the house will probably get searched and people possibly handcuffed while they do their thing and walk away. If they just blew it off or took it at face value, and in the .0001% chance it was legit and a house does blow up and nothing was done to check, everyone would be screaming about how they didn't do their job. It's a lose lose situation.
So we're at terror alert orange?
Not sure when this thread turned in to the straw man....
All threats are legit until they're proven otherwise. SWAT doesn't get called in to play patty cake. These guys are calling in hostage situations and shit, stuff that SWAT is designed for. It's not like they're calling in drugs, they're playing with peoples lives here.
Hate it when the police get flak and you don't blame the people who caused it.
I'd rather live with the remote possibility of being randomly exploded by a "terrorist" because of a late police response than the very real and more likely possibility that giving my freedom away for security is going to backfire when I get shot in the face by cops because someone yelled WITCH!!!
So yes?
Also they get called in for drugs all the time, or even just underage drinking.

Got it, no fact checking before storming a house or throwing a flashbang into a crib or tasing a 13-year-old kid because another kid in a country not even on the same continent called and said the 13-year-old killed his parents and brother.
I know the crib thing was a fluke, but it still shows that police are using entirely too much force with impunity in America. A simple call-back check in the last example would have revealed a lot about the nature of the incident. Why is it that 4chan or anonymous can dox just about anyone within hours but the police cannot check to see if a call is legitimate before they fuck someone's life up? It's a "guns blazin" mentality. Charge in military style and clear a building like you are back in Faluja in 2007 then ask questions later.
http://rt.com/usa/183148-black-produ...ys-handcuffed/
This story is gold, Jerry. GOLD!Black TV producer on way to Emmys party mistaken for bank robber, handcuffed, held for six hours
An African-American film producer in Beverly Hills for an Emmy pre-party was handcuffed and detained for around six hours on Friday night as police believed he fit the description of a suspect in a nearby bank robbery.
Charles Belk said he left a restaurant alone to refill a parking meter when he was suddenly surrounded by six police cars “handcuffed very tightly, fully searched for weapons, and placed back on the curb,” he wrote on his Facebook page with an accompanying photo of him sitting on the curb as two police officers stand close by.
Do you see what you do? You will not even admit there is a problem with the level of force used because of a phone call. This kind of bullshit would not even be possible if police did not jump into action without any sort of verification of any facts. I know it is not possible to stop every incident and at times can be almost impossible to figure out if the incident is real or not, but I'm telling you there is a problem that is finally recognized by the DoJ and you don't want to hear it.
Straight off the wiki page, for example:
Maybe a few minutes to check and verify some info like address, names at address, call-back by the dispatcher (spoofed phone numbers), or just simply sending officers instead of assembling a swat team."I just shot my wife, so.... I don't think I could come down there.... She's dead, now.... I'm looking at her.... I'm going to shoot someone else, soon."
Here's how that particular incident was handled by police. The correct way:
Oh yeah, having police break down your door and raid your house does fuck up your life. It may not mean you get to attend your child's funeral, but it certainly shatters the security of your home just the same as a home invasion would. One of the deputies, he said, "comes up the driveway with his hand on his gun as my three-year-old is in the driveway, keeps his distance behind the trunk of the first police car and, we've come to find out, now -- last night -- there were actually police surrounding the house as they were investigating."
Erickson is praising the Bibb County Sheriff's deputies for the way they handled the call and how they responded. And he said he is glad that, this week, Sen. Saxby Chambliss, (R) GA, wrote Attorney General Eric Holder, asking him to investigate the "SWAT-ing" calls as attacks on those who are exercising free speech.
probably because it is quite literally a home invasion
no, i'm just making snarky commentary about the state of criminal justice in this country
Considering that mental health and the acquisition of firearms is a big topic; until that changes, the response from police won't change.
People ask me why I'm so paranoid. 1.5 guns for every one of the 300 million Americans in this country. As long as people like Seung-Hui Cho, Adam Lanza, James Holmes, Aaron Alexis, George Hennard, James Huberty, Nidal Malik Hasan, Jiverly Wong, Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, Michael McLendon, Scott Evans Dekraai (need I go on?) exist in this world and have access to firearms, it will never change. You don't make change by cutting the people trying to make a difference and save peoples lives. You make change by going after the source.
Want to say it's a small price to pay (a few lives) to end this so called militarization of police? Say that to the face of the next little child that gets gunned down by a psychopath.
Edit:
Just wanted to clarify that I do think no-knocks for drugs is a bit over-the-top. Stuff like that needs to be investigated HEAVILY. If there's no lives at stake, then take your time and work your case. I will agree on this.
Not for active stuff. Active shooters, hostages, domestic violence, etc. That's what SWAT was originally designed for and that's what it needs to be used for.
Is this real? People are complaining when the police respond to phone calls? Are these the same people that complain about a slow response time?
Even if they did realize the call was from a different country, should they ignore the possibility of them telling the truth? Hey, this guy says he saw hostages, but lets not bother going out there just yet.
Considering that corrupt police and the abuse of power is a big topic; until that changes, the response from sane people won't change.
People ask me why I'm so paranoid. Shitloads of guns and other gear for every one of the police officers in this country. As long as people like Darren Wilson, the LAPD, wannabe cops like Zimmerman, cops throwing flashbangs at babies (need I go on?) exist in this world and have access to firearms and military grade hardware, it will never change. You don't make change by telling the people trying to live just to live in fear and not question this bullshit. You make change by going after the source.
Want to say it's a small price to pay (a few lives) to end cops' so called justified paranoia? Say that to the face of the next unarmed black guy that gets gunned down by a psychopath.
Bravo
can we get a kD ratio of blacks by cops vs kids by guns? pretty sure we would have a clear winner...
/thread ladies and gentlemen. Qalbert has taken the mantle. Because he is so violently oppressed by the police, is in great fear because the police have scary weapons that can kill (which statistically is an impossibility due to his privilege), and believes so strongly that the police are the heart of the corruption of America, this day, he is going to make a difference!
Today, he will step away from his computer, and put on his cape. Today, he will step outside and jump in to his Batmobile. Worry not, fair citizen! Qalbert will save you! He will gladly take the hour out of his busy schedule to help you change your tire! He will gladly rush in with his mighty powers of "Non-Violent Restraining" to subdue that rapist sticking it in your vagina in that dark alleyway! He will gladly stand watch to ensure you don't asphyxiate on your own vomit as he waits for an ambulance because he found you laying facedown in a gutter!
He will use his newfound momentum to establish a group to rid the world of tyranny, oppression, and villany. The police are no more. Felled by the hands of those they swore to protect, a new breed of enforcer is here to save the day! Dun dun dun daaaaa! He is Qalbert! Here to save you all from the despicable police officers who ruled this country with an iron fist!
There. I just spruced up that fantasy world you just created. Jump on in there and be the good little sheep. Pretend it's not there and pretend you're an oppressed little lamb. Don't worry; even if you don't want it, the sheepdog will still be there to protect you, little sheep.
Do police consider themselves heroes? Paranoid heroes?
