But yeah, got it. Upload image. Manually change the permissions. View on the google drive server. View image directly. Copy URL hash that doesn't end with the image code.

How silly of me not to notice that six step process, compared to dropbox: Click "get link" next to the image.

[edit] In light of this new information, I hearby change my determination of Google Drive. It is no longer useless to me because you can't hotlink. Now, it is useless to me because hotlinking is a convoluted/less convenient process than competitors products. Thank you for showing me the light.

not really a Google Drive thing but since we're comparing cloud syncs, right now current SkyDrive accounts can be upgraded from 7GB to 25GB for free (looks like it doesn't work for new accounts which is why it says 'loyal users')

Well, there goes an extra 50gb of cloud storage I'll never use from my junk-mail accounts. That and I'm too paranoid to use these seriously outside of sharing stuff larger than 3mb with folks I know.......that's rar'd and passworded.

I did sign up for Dropbox though, am liking how seamless it makes itself appear. Hassle free to get stuff on the server and link it.

You have to have uploaded something to SkyDrive before 8/24 in order to claim the 25 GB space. I posted about this on page 1.
