Halo 4 to release on Election Day 2012. Oh god, we're fucked.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1432590.html

Microsoft announced on Tuesday that the fourth installment of its Halo series will be available for Xbox 360 on November 6, 2012 -- otherwise known as Election Day.

According to a press release issued today, the game's narrative will pick up four years after the events of Halo 3, which was released in 2007. At the end of that game, the series' protagonist Master Chief was alive but separated from the human race and heading to an unknown planet with his A.I. sidekick Cortana.

"Master Chief returns to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe," Microsoft said in the press release.

Halo 4's launch coincides with the release dates of a number of other popular games including Assassin's Creed III, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and Grand Theft Auto V, Games Radar reports.

But if Halo 4 performs as well as its predecessor, it should have no trouble putting up some big numbers. Bolstered by more than 4 million pre-orders, Halo 3 became the fastest-selling game in history when it was released in 2007.

That record was broken in 2011 by Call of Duty: Black Ops, which earned $1 billion in sales after just 42 days of release - so taking back the crown will be no easy challenge for Microsoft.

Fans can judge for themselves tonight whether the game appears to live up to expectation. Reports have surfaced on Twitter that Miscrosoft will preview a segment of the game on "Conan," airing at 11 p.m. tonight on TBS.
    So...

DLC For people wearing "I voted" stickers? Or should we just move all the Polling Stations to local GameStop locations?

We need to have like 20 NASCAR races on the same day to balance this out.

Midnight Monday/Tuesday, or Tuesday/Wednesday. Because the second one would technically be the 7th, and the first one would be WORSE for turnout.

If all those games are released day of, at least you could try to convince people to go vote while they're out driving to get the thing.
But midnight, they'll get home and not fucking leave.

A vote for Master Chief is a vote for prosperity.

Consider the fact that Mitt Romney is guaranteed to be the GOP Candidate. No one is enthusiastic about him, not even the hardcore GOP nuts and they are beyond desperate to defeat Obama. I'd be willing to give this theory the benefit of the doubt. Hell, when I first saw news of this, my reaction was the same Byrthnoth.

It would be interesting if they did an early release on Tuesday for people who vote (it is rated M, no?) and a normal release on Wednesday or something. Good way to get out some extra youth voters.

    Smells like a liberal conspiracy.

I think I'm the only one not interested in this game. Bungie not even involved in this why would anyone care about this game?

Yeah I'd go as far as to say that 90% of the young people who play Halo don't vote.

I had a long post typed up, but I decided to scrap it. It's much easier to just say I think Halo 1-3 were okay, everything after that was crap, and Bungie is over-rated. It's not that simple, obviously, but it takes too long to explain.

WEATHER has an effect on voting turnout.
If the people who allow 2-6 years of political consequences be ruled by a single day's bit of rain aren't treated like that (and in two decades I haven't seen that), then neither should gamers.
