Wow, that gif. Was not expecting, lol.
This is a sticky argument. In a way i see that the masses always need a carrot dangled in front of them in order to want to do anything, but at the same time, the way its currently balanced leads to massive unbalance in Skill Vs Gear departments.
Personally, I understand the want to have a goal when PVPing, Though i do agree with Shiyo, the fun if PVP is in winning, not wondering what you get from it. Which is why i can enjoy games like Super Smash brothers, Etc etc... They all have merits as enjoyable (pvp) Games with no stick to dangle in front of you. If your PVP is enjoyable, you don't need a reward attached to it, countless games prove this... MMOs just like to think they're the exception and use Gear/Carrots in place of enjoyable combat. Which far too many people are "okay" with.
Though not entirely carrot free, Since some games, even FPS, have Achievements/etc as unlockables, Most people don't play the Multiplayer in FPS/Smash Bros for achievements or unlocking weapons... They do it cause its fun. I think MMO's can follow the same strategy, just none want to put the effort into balancing it or making it as enjoyable as possible. now, I do want to make it clear, I'm trying not to imply PVP in TERA isn't fun, because, even if i was, thats an opinion, and not a fact. some will enjoy it, others wont, Just like some enjoy FPS, and other dont.
So with that said, I'd like to apologize if i make a point that sounds as if I'm criticizing the enjoyment of TERAs Pvp, and not just addressing the Gearcheck of it now.
The norm is not always the acceptable, especially in the MMO market of endless WoW clones and RAIDSRAIDSRAIDSQUESTSEXPQUESTS that spew forth in droves like a wave of uncreative mediocrity. I think, just a solution off the top of my head, There should be PVP in Tera that offers combat/battles where everyone is given the same baseline temporary gear, making Combat essentially skill based, not a gear check. on one hand, You have the normal PVP, complete with rewards aplenty. On the other hand, You'll have the special PVP that allows those who would enjoy the Skill Vs Gearcheck combat.
If one is as smart as they assert, They could see the logic in the above compromise. One version of PvP For Pwning Noobs with your gear, and another for testing your skill on equal footing. Heck, Could even make the "Equal Footing" PVP give points/etc to obtain the Gear-Check PVP gear for when you decide to dive into that pool.
Think that'd make everyone happy in the end, and think of the Drama you could laugh at when you kill someone in Gear PVP and they go on a tangent and try to challenge you to Skill PVP! (its like outclaiming someone in FFXI And they challenge you to Ballista! so CUTE)
They could change the system, or just make the gear laughably easy to obtain. Like they did. In the time people spent whining about gear imbalance in this game, could have just gotten it by now. Close 2 rifts and run NT with a rep boost and you've got a conjunct mat. God damn. Everything outside of a top, top tier weapon is a joke. You'd think everyone would just jump through the 2 hoops and get the shit.
Yeah, after you grind the most poorly designed MMO event ever to build up rep. Then grind BGs where people who did it before you have a gigantic advantage over you and have to be braindead or a zerker to be beaten 1v1. The sad part is you think Shiyo is against it because she doesn't want to do it when she already got the gear. It's fucking laughable to see anyone defend it and comes down to "well I did it, they should too".
I know why people hate Shiyo now. Because the truth hurts.
Nah, its cause she cries in every mmo thread about wanting all content to conform to solo play or simply general, sappy QQ.
How about let's move on with other complaints about the game instead of piling on Shiyo? She just likes to voice her opinion a bit more heavily than others. There's nothing wrong with that. D: Some people may not like it.. but no need to pile on someone.
As far as my complaints..post level 45+ is sort of tiresome to grind out, especially solo, Haha. Then again, I'm not so social with lots of strangers and play so sporadically.. but still!![]()
It speeds it way up (more enjoyable to look forward to) by laying out a full gold set of each tier to +6. Weapon+9 speeds it up even more. Good charms also. But yeah the modern mmo leveling system of killing solo trash mobs blows, at least there are exp boosts now.
Yeah and doing pure story quests/whatever random quests that are in that specific area work out for me as well. Can get on, maybe do a story quest/couple others, log off.
random complaint: have blown through 5000 CES and 30 MES trying to MW my damn nexus hands...yay RNG
I just think it's trivial to argue that gear gaps matter in this game, but meanwhile it's retardedly easy to get Fraywind/Nexus armor (buyable) and getting Conjunct items isn't even that troublesome. Stupid argument is stupid...
anyway yeah F it.
you should seriously look into getting a grinding partner, even as a Sorc when I hit Eleana it was way tedious (upgraded my weapons at every interval I could) until I hit up a friend with an alt to get caught up. The time I waited (a couple days) saved me so much headache having a duo buddy to blaze through 50 and shit. I think i got a 60 friend to start helping with bams at around then though lol, just for quick quest caps in the areas.
The problem with a grinding partner is I play so sporadically (like.. an hour here, an hour there, etc) that I'm never really on long enough to actually grind out since I'm basically playing it full casual mode. Not like "ZOMG I WANT IT EASIER FOR TEH CASUALZ" but I don't play really for long spurts of time.
yeah sounds like it'd be a pain to coordinate a buddy like that >.<
well hang in there at least, it gets a lot easier once you get 55+ and hit zones like Pathfinder and Zulikar, the mobs HP around there seems to be less of a jump then what it was like hitting Eleana iirc.
Even just a quick shout for duo exp grind, EZmode when you have someone collect them up and all you have to do is blast them down.
