how is that relevant, even if true? What does that have to do with a theoretical situation where you could opt out of government programs and the discussion of whether that is a good idea or not.

So if I get this correctly, you're suggesting offhandedly, on an article you vaguely remember, that liberals cannot understand conservative arguments, but conservatives can understand the arguments and points liberals are trying to make?

"They're heathens, they'll never see God's path!" when liberals fail to get a conservative view.

"They're heathens, their views are dismissible and morally off-base!" when conservatives understand the 'logic' behind a liberal view but still proceed with their own point on the issue.

Am I in the ballpark? Demos is right though. Completely irrelevant to this thread in particular, could just as easy go in almost any Political Poopdeck thread and be no more or less relevant. Though I'd have gotten 11/13 had I been less hasty: I said Lincoln was a democrat based on the whole "abolishing slavery" thing then remembered the democratic party didn't exist back then, it was repubs vs whigs, IIRC.

the only bad question was the lincoln question. The quiz tried to define republicans as conservatives, and then asks what party lincoln was. Lincoln wouldn't be elected as a city representative by the republican party today
