That and he's 64. No one hires professors at 64. Even if he works until 70, that's still only 6 years. Pretty short turnover rate for a university.

Besides, I said he'd been passed up a few times, not that he's been at the same position for eternity. He's still moving up. It just took them a while to realize that qualifications affect competency more than religion.
