What kind of random bullshit is that sanction thing.
What kind of random bullshit is that sanction thing.
Because having signet/sanction/sigil in XI wear off and force you to go without or waste time trekking back to the source was a meaningful aspect of gameplay rather than an arbitrary, annoying inconvenience.
I'm really hoping that when they do the first level cap only jobs can go past the level cap. Then if they insist on keeping classes just keep the same classes and have random level/class combinations to unlock additional jobs. Let post 50 be jobs only.
Craft updates look interesting. I'm just personally happy that crafting animation will go faster. Grinding for my Gavel of the Luminary took longer than needed since it just took time to get through a stack of mats. Materia is nice too since now I can request melding while I'm afk.
I don't know what to make of Hamlet. I'm reserving judgement until I see what it's like since they threw out a lot of stuff. It depends on the rewards/time ratio.
When grinding for achievements you should probably just be using Hasty hand anyway.
Also sanction/signet didn't have this:

Some people are going to have to plan their gear setup around the buff if most of the enhanced gear is decent. Watch it wear off when you die too.
I understand a lot of the enhancements from having sanction may be significant but that doesn't make it any less arbitrary (run to office, get buff) and needlessly penalizes people in situations where you or someone in your group needs to afk or for people not with the Ul'dah company (I'm assuming you can only get sanction from your own GC office, but I'm hoping that's not the case).
Also more gear shitting up inventory but at least there's armoires now. Tho they don't help with carry capacity inventory issues (anything I'd put in an armoire is already on a retainer).
(also FF really needs a better dictionary for its spell checker)
I wasn't disagreeing, Niiro. Just saying it's even worse in this game because not having the buff means some people will perform worse, which means parties will want to re-get it every time it wears.
I'm looking more at Byregot's Blessing (CRP45, increases quality gains by 100% for 3 steps) combined with Perfection (CRP36, great success on next Careful) and Culmination (WVR45, great success on next action). Master's Mend (ALC45, greatly restores durability) may also be hax.
Oh thank god. They finally made an adjustment to shields in this patch. Hopefully its enough of a buff to actually make a difference for PLD.
Yes it did.
I almost certain there were items in FFXI which utilized Signet/Sanction. Bonuses "Outside of your nation's control:" and "Inside of your nation's control:" etc. only functioned under Signet, right?
Cursory research says this is true. i.e.; for Resentment Cape (which at one point was a pretty stellar cape!) to be useful you would need Sigil/Sanction/Signet for the Magic Defense-% to kick in. Otherwise you'd have Enmity+2 and that's just silly.
Also, whole MDT-% set ups hinged on Resentment Cape's effect being active in Lumoria at one point in time, so yeah, I think this Sanction is pretty analogous to FFXI Sanction/Signet/Sigil in that regard. Boring and useless!
Now if it carried the other benefits, so much XP gained under Sanction converted to seals, an XP bonus, etc. then the inconvenience might be more justified (or if this gear is fucking amazing)
If they're going to make sanction a thing that people actually rely on, they'd better make it cheap (free?) and station some NPCs to grant it in a myriad of places. In the future, I hope they intend to do what XI did and extend the duration based on your rank.
Unfortunately, since timers tick down while you're logged out (unlike XI), you'll have to get it every time you log in.
Based on the way I read the notes (emphasis added):
Ingenuity BSM30 Renders recipe difficulty equal to your skill for the next three steps.
Hasty Hand LV15 Instantly completes synthesis when successful, but worsens results of failure. Adequate skill guarantees success.
Exploit?
edit: Meh, game doesn't even let you attempt stuff WAY above your level, so not as crazy as I thought.
Also, once you use an ability, doesn't Hasty Hand go away?
You're right, Hasty Hand is first-action-only. Crisis averted.
Hamlets require a full group... fail.
It's instanced content. It has to be a full group on release or the servers will asplode.
