I've actually hit a car in the college parking lot before (only left a super small scratch on the bumper) drove away and had some wanna be hero jerkoff turn me in.

I was called in by the campus police over and over. I even had a small mark on my bumper that matched where it hit the other car.

I just kept denying it over and over. I told them that the mark that matched up exactly had always been there.

The whole thing eventually went away.

My friend said that he was called in by college police because he told a teacher to fuck off via email.

If you send a professor an anonymous email basically telling them to fuck off, can someone actually charge you for aggravated harassment? The university police said to him that if he did not confess they would get his yahoo mail account traced with a subpoena to his IP address and the charges would be much worse. He did not sign a statement and left after he asked for a lawyer. Should he expect to be bothered again?

Telling someone to fuck off and threatening them are two totally separate things. Nothing criminal can come of this. Denying it will just cause them (the campus police) to get pissed off and take it further than what it needs to be. Just tell him to take the lump with university judicial services and be done with it.

I know the school can do shit because there is always fine print somewhere that allows them to but Isn't he protected by freedom of speech? I have to agree with some others here more was said then just a simple "fuck off" but assuming it was just that I doubt they could do anything legally.

I would imagine there are school policies in place for this sort of thing. As others said, legally probably nothing will happen, but he could be expelled.


I can't imagine how stupid this person can be. It's almost (already?) the end of the school year and usually schools give students an option to take an anonymous survey on the teacher. Why the fuck the student just didn't complain in that is beyond me.

Criminally (legally) they probably can't do anything unless they can establish a pattern of behavior. Then it becomes harassment. Free speech is great and all but there are limits. That's why laws such as harassment, threats, and whatnot were created.

A lot of people during the KKK march on D.C. a few years back said it was free speech for them to talk their "gospel" and spread their "word" during the rally. But, once it became an issue where some of their members began to affect the quality of life against others with their threats and comments, it became a violation of the victim's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Therefore, the rally was shut down and disbanded (much to the delight of the almost 60% African American D.C. police force) due to some of their members making threats and intimidating onlookers.

This case is just simply an issue of how far the professor is willing to press the issue. All he has to say is "This kid threatened me, i'm afraid. Save me." and it's game over. If he fessed up and said he was angry and apologized for lashing out, then there's nothing they can really do. Deny it and take the gamble if you want but i'd rather take the academic hit (that can be expunged) rather than being locked up with a possible permanent record.
