Looks fun, good job guys!
Yeah, that looks pretty intense... which bodes horribly for pickups.
Don't remind me ><
At least you guys were able to get a party and not stuck shouting for 3h and getting no invite
Anyone else have framerate stutter with this fight post Aerial Blast?
holy shit ur whm is powerhouse O_O
we always got to clone phase now and our whm couldnt keep doing that and i can totally understand that, the fight is a total bloodshed at the end
Regen is a powerhouse.
*nods* Very intense battle for us healers. That little WHM Lalafell is amazing, I always have trouble keeping everyone alive after Aerial Blast when things go bonkers. xD We just need more DPS to make her skip that annoying shriek phase. ^^
Thank you. ^_^/Practice makes perfect! Good luck to your and LS buttons.
So looking over the video:
BLMs use their Thunder > Thundara > Thundaga combos pre Aerial Blast
Recover from Aerial Blast
Avoid tempests and regain MP
Fire > Fira > Firega clones
It's pretty much:
• Full attack
• Hide behind pillars from her when she teleports (sides = conal, center = AoE)
• Kill Razor Plumes with AoEs when they spawn
• Buckle down for Aerial Blast
• Try to full attack while avoiding twisters
• Full attack with AoEs when the sisters spawn
Garuda seems very much like a gear check to me. I went in as a last minute BLM and my gear is pretty shit (AF/Mage's/etc.) and it was honestly difficult to combo because of resists. Same probably goes for melees trying to kill the Razor Plumes. I imagine they can be one-shot with Steel Cyclone if your STR/Attack Power is high enough... not to mention some Accuracy because missing one/some of those is really shitty.
I was surprised our group went from not know what the fuck, to getting to Aerial Blast in a handful of attempts... we're just having issues with keeping the pillars standing as we didn't have an ideal party (BRD just hit 50, no Rain of Death, etc.) and our gear isn't top notch at all. Missing a Skull Sunder is really fucking frustrating.
I finally got to do a few Garuda runs today and I have to say our pug was promptly dominated every time. As the supporting warrior I found the razor leaves to be really infuriating for the same reason Ifrit's nails are: you can't tell which way they're facing and thus combos are a crapshoot. I see now that in the video Sirius Taco used Garuda to build the combo, which is something I didn't consider. Also, the constant switching between targets is a major pain as I find I lose the action bar all the time and then I can't initiate auto-attack without blindly hitting a key and hoping I'm still on the correct row. I wish there was a toggle that would force the action bar to remain active.
I also somewhat struggled with getting behind cover for the AoE in time. Do you have to hug the pillar to gain its protection? At Ifrit I practically never get hit by Eruption unless I'm animation locked for whatever reason, but at Garuda I felt like sometimes I'd get hit even if I wasn't locked and ran for cover immediately as she teleported. It's possible that I was just distracted by a new fight and wasn't actually as fast as I think I was, though.
Yeah, as supporting WAR, I would always at least start the combo on Garuda because her direction is obvious and only Heavy Swing has a directional requirement. You can also forsee when the plumes will spawn because her animation looks like a WS but instead of an attack, she just jumps in the air a little bit... and it's usually always just after a teleport-attack.
I only seemed to have issues running to the pillar when I tanked since being backed up against the edge of the arena fucks with my camera angles. If you're not tanking, just immediately run when you notice your target on Garuda disappear or your WSs on her won't respond. No need to hug the pillar, just make it directly between you and her. Or just be behind her or to the side of her when she does the conal... it's nice when you can just do that.
Fight's pretty fun, but intense.
