Is there even a pattern to phase2? It seems random if she does Shriek or Song. Each requires you to do something completely different and you have less than a second to react. I just dont see how its possible.
There is no pattern. You just have a second to see in the log, it gives a message about the direction of her winds, at least it does for the next phase. I just dislike the phase and its no fun as the healer, believe me. @.@
Yea 3rd phase gives you a clue with directions, but there seems to be no clue at all for second phase.
That's why I seriously hope the second phase can still be skipped in the future with enough dps. ^^
Agreed. I wonder if that second phase is broken (like theres supposed to be a way to tell what move she'll do) or perhaps we havent discovered it yet. Only option seems to be reapply SS and hope for the best.
I have an idea for what it is, big dust circle = Shriek (aka get the fuck away), small dust circle = Song (aka get in dat ass). But no one really cared enough about figuring out 2nd phase so no one else has confirmed this or not. Even if you know this, her position is still random and avoiding it still feels like luck (especially for song).
Would be interesting to test.
Though yeah, when they fix Gardua's AI, how different will this fight probably? Furthest I got on this fight was Aerial Blast, but everyone wiped and not really looking forward to trying again until I can find a decent LS on Aegis. (Yeah, I'm fucked).
One of the problems with this fight is that the longer a group takes to widdle her down to Aerial Blast, the less likely they are to even survive it. There's almost no point to having as much time as they give you because using a majority of that time means the pillars are meanwhile getting fucked up by Razor Plumes and/or Garuda's AoEs. At least with Ifrit, a less-experienced or less-skilled group could take a long time, slowly and steadily wearing Ifrit down to Hellfire, but surviving that one move is just based on your efficiency with taking out Infernal Nails.
Here, if you're not efficient and very well coordinated the entire first half of it, you will not survive, period. There's not really any room for error. Hell, the game should just save everyone time by booting them out of the fight once the pillars get worn down enough.
Well sounds like phase2 has been figured out:

Looks pretty easy to dodge. . . . >.>

I noticed in the baby garuda fight that she always repopped opposite and facing the tank. I guess its the same here, but the shrieks were confusing me.
Phase 2 isn't that hard to figure out, can pretty much dodge all her moves everytime once you get the positioning down. But I get sadface cause the dps in my ls is so horrible we get phase 2 everytime.
As far as the BLM burn, you don't need triple melds to complete it. Single/double melds works just fine. The reason Phase 2 is skipped by alot of people and why the BLM burn is possible has to do with how her AI and HP% handles her transitions. If she is below 60% (not sure on exact % but it's around there) when she summons her plumes, she'll always summon her final set that consists of 10+ plumes. It's very reminiscent of how Heartys pop during the Miser fight. At that point she'll do her Aerial Blast. Phase 2 is suppose to start at that point and should end when she is around 30% but most groups are able to burn her down to that point before Aerial Blast so it's skipped entirely and goes right into phase 3 with the Chirada/Suprana. BLM burn abuses this by bringing her close to 60% when she summons plumes then going balls out after that since you'll have 2 plume sets to work with before she rapes you.
I imagine the fix they'll do will probably be like Ifrit's Hellfire where it'll end the plumes early and force her to Aerial Blast and go right into Phase 2 should her HP reach a checkpoint.
Nvm single melds, most people have no idea how to gear themselves in the first place.
Most of the time you check someone wearing full AF they've got a weapon with no materia (or worse, one of those -20 ACC weapons) and a random smattering of accessories that are either dated, seasonal event gear, or completely useless to their job (if they're wearing accessories at all).
Content may very well be designed around competent players with appropriate equipment with no more than single melds, but most people don't even make it that far.
This is the problem with current "endgame" for those outside of a solid linkshell of intelligent people. There's a huge gap between players that know what the fuck they're doing and those who have never touched a piece of materia and wear full AF 24/7. It's like there's nothing between those two groups with the players that have stuck it out with XIV. You either stuck it out because you really enjoy MMORPGs, or you stuck it out because you're a fanboy who named his character Terra Gainsborough.
Sucks being casual/uncommitted right now as there is almost nothing you can get done solo/low-man besides grind pointless achievements. (Full-party requirements to even attempt can go to hell.)
and suddenly int materia, mages earring/ring prices goes through the roof!
dunno if all servers are like this now, but int IV materia on gungnir is 500k+ each
and some guy has 63 int IV for sale, 550k each
wonder how much time this guy spent getting those, for me these are so rare..
If you haven't noticed, the price of virtually all AV/CC gear has spiked. Now that people are busy with 1.22 stuff, supply has plummeted.
It's especially apparent among the bits that are actually useful (exp choker, exp earring, mage's earring, cure staff, etc).
INT III/IV materia has always been expensive, at least from my experience.
making bank off selling mattk shields and spiritbonding revolutionary bliaulds atm D: was a fucking nightmare to get my retainers into the uldah wards though
Can I get an idea with which to base my gear? I'd like to try this but I'm not sure where my stats need to be.
Phase 2 is pretty simple if you watch the minimap and tank her in the middle while dodging the plumes.
