Good shit, I had forgotten!
That's right, that shit was restricted to 4 letters, haha. Finn was pretty badass by endgame. Sony needs to put that summoner nigga, Tont, in this game.

There are a lot more 3rd party characters on the way. 4 characters will be announced next month at Gamescom.
Got to play with Clockw0rk on wednesday, the game is shaping up nicely, though there are some things I am still worried about. Defense is too strong, and the only character with a wake-up attack is Heihachi. Players who arent turned off by the super system will have a field day with the game, as there are a lot of options like turning off stage hazards, with Vita crossplay and fight stick support. SuperBot is taking feedback from people who actually want to see the game turn out well, so interest and discussion is encouraged. As the community manager, Clock also reads forums for thoughts and ideas (plus he reads BG so...)
I gave my initial impressions and sort of tackled the audience culture gap that a game like this faces with my editorial, but I'll be posting on this topic a lot just to see if people have any questions that I might be able to answer.

Everything from my point of view sees this game as being a giant disaster.
It just feels -so- much like an attempt to rip off of smash bros that I can't see it turning out well at this point. I mean, copying from rivals is all the rage, but even still, this just feels so blatant that even I'm uncomfortable when I see it.
Most mainstream shooters try to have things look or feel at least a bit different, and the same with racers, but this just screams "Smash!!" all over it. The boxes, the play style; everything. Even if they had changed around the camera angles or the animation style or something, but damn.
There are not actually that many things in common with smash, except for the basic concept of big named protagonists and villains engaging in a platform fighter.
It's honestly like saying any sprite based 2d fighter is trying to be street fighter.
The game looks like smash, a lot. Watch a video and then watch a final destination vid from Smash. Shit plays out very similiar, and it feels like a cheap rip-off. Maybe in the future with more 3rd party people I'll feel differently, but not for now. The cast still looks seriously weak, like they were digging in the trash bin for characters ala. the penny arcade comic.
I guess I should clarify that "Top Tier" is my mobile account.
Lucavi, I played Brawl competitively for nearly 3 years (the last year I was super casual), and I played PS All-Stars less than three days ago. The offense is different, offensive controls are way different, the KO vehicle and the defense are both completely different, and literally the main thing they have in common is that they're the same genre. The combat actually feels more like how a normal 2D fighter would translate to a brawler, with meter building, stick support and an infinite avoidance system.
Like I said, it's basically saying any Sprite-Based 2D fighter is trying to be SF.
They'll be adding 4 new characters next month and there will be a good number of third party characters. The roster at the moment is mainly just a matter of personal preference. I didn't give a shit about any of the nintendo characters but link, and he was complete ass and I never played him. Similarly, the only character on the sony roster I care about is Nathan Drake and he plays like complete buttgarbage.
Really? Half the confirmed roster is exactly who you'd expect in a Sony Smash Bros. games. Big Daddy feels like a money-driven "I get you sales you get me sales" kind of thing, or maybe "Bioshock is hip and cool, right?", and not so much scraping the bottom of the barrel. Fat Princess and Radec are the only ones that feel like that. Including a Killzone/Resistance character feels like including a car from Gran Turismo; yeah, they're huge franchises, but c'mon.
I do agree that something about it feels off. I wanna be excited for this game because I love the Smash Bros. concept and I mostly prefer Sony's 1st-party franchises over Nintendo's, but I just don't feel it.
I can see the point about apprehension regarding the roster, though Radec is actually pretty sweet. If I don't just kind of exclusively play kratos (and snake isnt announced and ends up being super good), I might play Radec.
I didn't know you and Ryko are fucking, Sera. Learn something new every day,
Also, Ryko, the game looks the same to me. To me. I await to have my opinion changed, but as of now, it is not going anywhere.
I'm glad to hear it doesn't play like smash, but the roster is still pretty weak so far and I hope they really improve on it. I'm still not enthusiastic about this game, but hell, I'm more willing to try it now.
Yeah the individual elements of gameplay are honestly way different. I guess it depends on how you view it, if all people see are platformed stages and tilting controls, then yeah I could see the comparison. A lot of people are going to make it, but when you have a chance to play the game, it feels a lot different. In a way, smash is a lot more freewheeling in how combos play out.
You people forget about this game?
Surprised no one bitched at this
Has HP bars, but you guys get the idea.
Can also include Battle Stadium D.O.M. if you want. Similar setup, but that game was fun as shit.
Wow. this game looks HORRIBLE. I'd give it a try for free but jeez its just so slow and sluggish
