Wow Dallas is getting smoked
I feel like the Mavs let the Refs take them out of the game early last night.
They felt like they were getting jobbed the first 2 games and then after those 2 bad calls to start the game (charge and offensive interference within 20 seconds of each other) last night they kind of just slumped their shoulders and let it happen in the 2nd half.
Feels like Dirk and Carlisle were the only ones with some heart this series, which makes sense I guess since everyone else knows they could be shipped out this summer.
They would of gotten raped by Bynum next round anyways. The Thunder will have a much easier time of making it to the Finals.
Why did Cuban tank this season again?
Because he realized the chance of a 1-Star construction repeating was slim to none - you'd have to get max contributions from Barea, Stevenson, Cardinal, old Kidd, etc again and that wasn't happening. They caught lightning in a bottle last year. Dirk wasn't any different - he's been scoring 28 and ~10 rebounds in the playoffs for a decade - it was his supporting cast that finally stepped up.
Throw in the lockout and the new CBA, overpaying for a 1-way player like Tyson Chandler (as great as he is, he isn't worth $14mil/year), paying $6mil a year or whatever for Caron Butler, or paying Stevenson anything (dude is a dumpster fire waiting to happen) would of been crazy. Only JJ Barea at ~4/5mil a year would of made sense but JJ got his feelings hurt.
Basically they would have been locked in to Tyson Chandler as their 2nd best player for the next 5 years, a guy who has little to no offensive game. Not to mention Tyson Chandler's injury history.
Instead Cuban signed a bunch of veterans to 1 year deals, got Lamar for nothing (obviously this turned out terribly, but if they had gotten Lamar 6th man of the year the season might have ended up differently), and tried to give it a shot while they transition to next season with tons of cap room.
Dallas isn't getting Howard or Deron, so why is he making cap space again? They could get Nash! LOL

It would be amazing!
d-will wants to get pay-ed and while the nets can offer him more money dallas is not that far off.
given the nets bleakness i don't see how he says no to dallas for not much less.
He wants to win more than money, the Mavs are still going to offer him a max deal.
His best team mate on the Nets is Gerald Wallace, whose also opting out. There aren't any other FAs for them to sign either.
Not getting my hopes up since DHoward opted in and crushed my Summer 2012 3-D dream. I hope we get them both but I won't hold my breath for either.
Depending on how this back surgery plays out, DHoward might not even be the same player he was. That might pull us in another direction.
presumably by just waiting for next year's free agency
