I am not comparing it at all. I make no claim about what GW2 has and doesn't. You could also be completely correct that the nature of the combination of the additions makes it something different and feel better.
All I said is that most if not all of those things already existed in some form. Someone already specifically said that Rift had most of these things already, but somehow GW2 is still unique for some reason.
It's like saying WoW in this forum is a dirty word or something. LOL So much butthurt.
But you still claim mobs correct?
Also yes, you are comparing when you have not touched guild wars 2, and the only thing you have to go by is trying to relate what you read, to other systems of the games you have played.
That's comparing lol
Also its not the single systems in place that we are saying is different its how those systems together work to form something new. The problem is you cannot just take one little piece and say well that was in Rift, because of how integrated everything in gw2 works, its just really not accurate to do that. It is something different.
Its like comparing apples and oranges, they are both fruits, in that aspect they are the same, but they really have nothing in common beyond that.
Still don't remember this being common place and either way this is nothing like in GW2 where everything, including collect 10 bear asses, is credited to everyone because Person A gets credit for Person B handing in a bear ass because they are in the area doing the same objective. That is the point you are failing to see.
3ring, the way WoW worked was if you smacked a mob and somebody else killed it, the person who claimed it would get the quest initiative. Not the second person. Both players did not get the quest mob. TB and MF were fucking hell, and you were better off just spamming some AoE hoping to get claim on shit and have others kill it for you.
In GW2 there are no individual quests, so you're not fighting over that to begin with (minus missions, which seem to be instanced anyway). And then on top of that, anything you do towards helping a fight like healing, rezing, attacking, whatever, gets you contribution towards gaining exp, loot, and a special currency for getting extra loot.
I can't comment on Rift cause I never played it.
I think the bottom line here is that Guild Wars 2 is so good, it's already made everyone forget how shitty everything else was.
I appreciate that the combination of the systems working together has a synergistic effect. It is that kind of development the genre needs. If you look back at my original post on the subject, you will see I was only talking about the previous existence of the those systems. Iterative design is just as good and some times a lot better than innovative design.
Some people (not you) act as if GW2 sprang fully developed from the head of some Roman god, and I was just point out the roots go back further than some people think they do. Some of the things in other games were added as pure convenience and not even noted (for example, shared quest mobs in WoW, which it seems like a lot of people don't know about). I am not saying that everything came from WoW, or that WoW even does everything right. I am just saying that the reason GW2 is good is because they picked what was right and what was wrong from other games and created their own system.
And yes, I do wish I could get into the beta for GW2, believe me, I have tried.
All I was saying is that in WoW there are some quests with specific mobs that even if they are tagged, can still award credit, even if you are just in the vicinity of the mob. That's it.
GW2 could be the second coming of Christ (and I believe some people here honestly believe that) and it wouldn't mean that some of these things didn't come before it.
You know full well I don't think anything like that. I'm pretty worried about WvWvW because I've seen and played RvR before. I know exactly how it's going to go down. But this new no claim system is a very good idea and I've never seen it before in a MMO. If it's been done, then I'm mistaken and have no issues being wrong. But WoW doesn't have anything even remotely like it. Don't even try to play that shit off.
It has less to do with people think it's the 2nd coming ringthree, and more that you have successfully reminded everyone how much of a giant moron you are with your recent postings in this section, pretending to know what you are talking about when in fact you actually know NOTHING about what you are talking about in regards in GW2. The fact that everyone who has actually played it has had to correct you that WoW having a few quests that credit =/= all quests and DE credit everyone all the time in GW2, and you pretending that they are the same thing, shows how out of touch you are with the conversation and just with getting your point across. I already pointed out a clear example in response to your "collect bear asses" scenario where something that can turn into a timesink in a previous MMO, since majority of quest items are unique drops resulting in players competing with one another, is drastically different in GW2 where everyone gets credit for it, resulting in a more team oriented gameplay for something as miniscule as quest item gathering.
I afraid to actually go on and explain, again, why the things you are saying are wrong because it will probably go over your head because you apparently lack the ability to see why you are wrong.
First coming of Christ was fiction. Guild Wars 2 is real. I don't see the similarity.
I mean I guess expecting intelligence responses from ringthree is asking too much. When he does stuff like this
It's really hard to take anything he says seriously and maybe think if he's some sort of masterful troll.
You said WoW has the an almost identical system.
Your words, and they are wrong.
Now you're attempting to change my argument by using the word everything, which I never said or implied. Where's the real straw man here? Cause changing my argument to suit your own is the definition of it.
People have told you why you're wrong the entire time ringthree, including myself, don't get mad that I suddenly question your intelligence or lack thereof once you keep missing the clear point.
It's cool Rhyis he's obviously trolling at this point, noone could be this dumb. Let's just stop falling for it.
