Grew up praying for a new lego set for X-mas. My 9 yr old nephew expects an I-pad. Gas was 70 cents a gallon when I was 16. I could fill up my Buick Century, buy a soda, and a pack of cigs (Admiral never checked ID) for about $10.

Classic Rock was Zepplin, Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc. Now it's frickin Ratt and Poison....

All pants for "men" fit tighter than what a lot of women wear.

The "greatest rapper alive" wears leapord pants and Ronald McDonald shoes. Give me 2pac and Biggie replicas any day of the week.

I sort of went through something similar yesterday. Was looking for something to watch at 1am and found Batman the Animated Series on some random channel. Started watching that (which btw is probably the best cartoon ever created) and out of curiosity hit info to see the name of the episode. When I did that, I also saw the year it came out: 1993. Then it sunk in. Batman TAS is 19 fucking years old.

Best animated series imo were the Smurfs and DuckTales.

Centurions is still one of my favorite cartoons ever.

Funny thing is that I used to think about that cartoon every so often when my FFXI character would just blink out of existence for a second and come back in with new gear.

Thanks, that shit was killing me all night. It's like the WWF, American Gladiators, and Power Rangers all had an orgy and WMAC Masters was born:

The only reason why I started watching it is because it came on after X-Men

Got a new partner yesterday. Little punk straight out of the academy who got transferred to robbery section because he looks so young in plainclothes, he fits in well at the club scenes. Impala's radio is shit so I did some work to it so my iPod could work and hit the random button as we pulled out the shop. First song out the gate is "All Apologies". Kid looks at me and said "Oh shit, you listen to the Beatles? I love classics."

Had to suppress the urge to pepper spray him while flipping the car over mid-traffic, dumping him on the sidewalk and setting myself on fire. Wrong band, wrong genre, wrong side of the world, etc. What the fuck man...

Well this thread spurned me to call my wife since she's a bit older than me and I nostalgia'd the hell out of her. She remembers all the classics (Thundercats, Tom and Jerry, etc.) then we got to music. She hates that the classic station here plays Pearl Jam, Nirvana, ACDC, Metallica, etc. and even Nine Inch Nails! Then she said the secretary for her boss was complaining that he has an old rotary phone in his office he uses to make personal calls and she has to answer it sometimes when he's away. Girl is 21 from California (L.A. Cali girl) and does the whole bleach thing with pushups and bubblegum lip gloss, etc. Are rotary phones that old that a 21 year old doesn't know how to use one?

Today at church, the minister preacher guy referenced kids these days as "emo's that only care about complaining and being sad 24/7." made me chuckle.

Thread is making me feel old. Also, Ducktales was my shit. I can still sing the theme song word for word.

    My childhood

Could go on all day, but these are what really stood out to me growing up.

Edit: Left these two out. Worth mentioning.

Half the students I teach are my age or older, and when I talk about my students to others, I always call them kids.

    I do feel old.

I watched The Dark Crystal last night with my kids, it scared the crap out of them ^^; Kids movies these days are nowhere near as dark as many were when I was growing up, the ones that are scarier are inevitably rated PG-13 or higher so fewer kids will be seeing them. With everything being CG nowadays, it was really nice to see something done completely with old-fashioned movie effects and with real actors in costumes on real (gorgeous) sets.

When I was little I had three movies I watched religiously. Daily. Who framed Roger Rabbit, Willow, and Legend.

FUCK. Just remembered being in like 4th grade and calling all the numbers in the back of R/C car magazines, on my grandma's rotary phone, to ask for free catalogs. Never even got one of the damn things, just piles and piles of catalogs.

Also, the first time I truly felt old was browsing porn and seeing half the birthdates after mine...
