War. I have done abreak down of DPS using different DDs and different mobs here.
Small bump hoping that someone just missed this on the previous page.
I have no clue how to add Mordant Rime on Motenten's DNC spreadsheet, or I'd just test it there.
As silly as BRD dd may seem, it's actually lots of fun and more effective than you'd think in lowmen content like Dynamis and such.
Looking at the WS:
Head: I'd lean towards AF3+2. Do you have Hecatomb Cap?
Hands: AF3+2
Feet: Depends what you're fighting, but likely AF3+2 for Dynamis.
Waist: Ehhhhh.... Anguinus because why not?
Ring: Airy Ring
Boosting the base modifier is pretty important for Dagger jobs, and if you have a Bard in your party then you might be getting a Minuet. The beauty of being a Battle Bard is that your party always has a Bard. I did my initial elemental Magian Trials this way.
Yeah for a 30%DEX 50%CHR physical WS I was kinda lost in doubt wether to stack the main mod (CHR) or to aim for some mixed stats with STR and Attack too. I was kinda worried with the low basic attack BRD of course tipically has, that stacking too much CHR would have hurt my final damage.
Seems like you answered my doubts very well. Thanks!
Don't have my macro here atm but I think the final Mordant Rime is gonna be something like:
Head: AF3+2
Body: Relic+2
Hands AF3+2
Legs: Tumbler Trunks
Feet: AF3+2
Ear1: Brutal
Ear2: Ghille+1
Ring1: Airy
Ring2: Rajas
Neck: Gorget
Back: Atheling
Waist: Anguinus
Ammo: Iron Ram Horn
Lots of space to improve but for now it will do I guess.
And no I don't have Hecatomb, would seem kinda a waste to go for it just for a BRD WS, altough I guess I'll do it if it turns out I'm playing (and enjoying) BattleBRD a lot.
I have the same doubts concerning Stihra head/legs/feet for Extenrator on BRD. I mean, if they were easier to find on AH and if I could re-use it on other jobs as well why not, but to use them just for BRD uh... not with my current inventory issues.
Honestly, even with a pretty shitty build I get that 5/5 Exenterator should beat Mordant Rime.
150 AGI -> ~187 base damage with weapon and fSTR -> 965 damage pre-pDIF
120 DEX, 150 CHR -> 154 base damage with weapon and fSTR -> 810 damage pre-pDIF
This is assuming an offhand, which benefits both WSs approximately equally. It's really too bad that BRD can't wear Thaumas.
I still like to keep a Mordant build in my inventory, especially when it doesn't require me to get specific items for it (atm I'm re-using items which I already do own and use for other jobs/purposes).
This doesn't mean that I have no intention to use Exen on BRD of courseI'm just a bit reluctant to buy specific BRD-only items for it and tryin my best to make use of things I already have or that I can share with other jobs, but it's probably still gonna be my main WS.
New what's better question now! For DNC and Exenterator.
Aliyat Torque vs using Ammos (Charis, Thew, Potestas etc)
I'm basing this on the premise that going from Ammo to Ranged resets your TP, so unless I'm missing something you can't reliably swap from ammo to a ranged before the WS, you kinda need to fulltime it.
Or at least this is how things worked on my NIN when I used to swap between the Eva Boomerang and Bomb something back at 75.
Supposing I'm right, is it worth to fulltime Aliyat to boost Exenterator, or would using the Ammo options prove to be a more efficient solution despite the lower average on Exen?
Because I see a lot of people fulltiming Aliyat but I'm leaning to think second solution would be better, and the results I'm getting from spreadsheet so far tends to confirm what I said.
They give comparable bonuses to exenterator most of the time and potestas also helps your tp phase. If you need to pull with /
ra, chakram. Otherwise, bomblet.
For Fell Cleave:
Would elemental gorget/belt be better than a STR+ neck/waist?
Would Fortis Mantle be better than Atheling?
Would Moonshade/Vulcan's be better than Moonshade/Brutal?
Good to know, so Vulcan's x2 would be my best bet. I'm also guessing Fortis would beat Atheling. I'm just not sure about whether to go with elemental gorget/belt rather than a STR+ neck/waist.
For Fell Cleave, how would Ogier's Breeches rate against Hachiryu Haidate? I'm not sure how much Breeches's 15 more ATK and 3% increase to weapon skill damage rates against Haidate's STR+.
I'm trying to figure out the best combo of hands and feet for my THF's TP set. The 3 I've narrowed down to are:
1) Hands: Empy+2 Feet: Athos's (this option gives the slight set bonus w/Empy Head+2)
2) Hands: Mustela gloves Feet: Athos's
3) Hands: Brego gloves Feet: Relic+2
All of these keep my TP capped so these are the only 2 pieces I'm worried about atm. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Here's my Current NIN TP Set:

Agasaya's when shadows down, rancor when up. Dusk +1 until I get Tekko drop. Katanas suck because NIN is literally like a week old.
What I'm wondering is..Athos's Boots vs. Iga Kyahan +2. You can use spellcast to get an extra shadow without TPing in them..so are they used for the 1% haste boost or the tactical parry? Just seems like overall Athos's would be better as it's a solid DD -and- Hybrid Eva piece in one.
Are Athos's Gloves better than Mustela Gloves for Victory Smite on the right days (on MNK)?
I use Athos for my eva set only, pretty much. As far as just meleeing goes, Iga Kyahan +2 has 5 more STR and 5 less DEX (Less accuracy too, but NIN doesn't really find itself fighting really evasive stuff nowadays) as well as the 1% haste. Unless you just happen to be in that dDEX sweet spot the Iga will likely win. What I'm wondering is..Athos's Boots vs. Iga Kyahan +2. Oh yeah, if you want to, you get can a Ban to offhand to Kamome while/if you work on magians. Supposedly for AH NINs the lower delay on that will lead to it outdoing Kakesu.
Yeah, I just need to push myself to farm up some T3 abyssites to kill Ketea a couple times. Ugh.
I like my Athos's for now, but I'll get the +2 boots.
Actually that changed recently. Thaumas gear throws that for a loop just ever so slightly in order to make haste gear good again in those slots. I forget which slot is better to sacrifice for capped haste but that has more to do with those DA mitts never being on AH.
