It really comes down to the stp, chech the stp for a 5 hit some sets require the 1 stp from that earing

I would say tenryu hakama +1, accuracy helps and attack helps not to mention STR and DEX help too. the WS + dmg only applies to the first hit tough. but I am no mnk expert by any means, I just think that the accuracy attack and STR outweigh the 7 more dex byakkos has

For DRK, Kokou's Earring or Bale's Earring?

Generally speaking Kokou's. DRK over flows with attack. ACC and STP give it a slight edge. In a lot of sets you can replace Ace's feet/bale with Wrathwing/kokou's.

What about Usu+1 legs vs byakko with no augments? My meeble group decided it wasn't worth spending gil to get abateur subligars at a 10% drop rate, so that option isn't available right now.

Hmmm I'd say Skadi's Visor +1 head. Tp bonus earring or higher dex. Athos body. Possibly augmented jupiters ring if you can. Wanion belt. Heca +1 legs. Athos feet maybe

Any major changes should be made for these sets? I'm looking for long term. I had a hard time finding any SAM sets that weren't terrible. These were modeled around what Iarumas' sets use. Tenryu +1 isn't really viable (even for long term), but any upgrades other than that I'm all ears for.

Working on spharai atm and not sure what my best in slot pieces are to go for in Head/Body/Legs combo to max my gear haste while also maxing DPS.

Current gear I have: http://www.ffxiah.com/item-sets/282932 (Spharai 30% done)

Main contenders for slots are:
Head
Tantra Crown +2: I like to solo / duo with my pocket white mage, and with the counter bonus on my feet plus the bonus to perfect counter on crown, I do really enjoy the thought of critting and having some sick perfect counters in abyssea. So this is the main one I'd like to use unless he alternatives gear builds give me THAT big of a DPS increase.

Thaumas Hat: This is what I see a lot of monks also going for on the forums.

Body:
Tantra Cyclas +2: This used to be the best in slot, but I dunno what people are saying now.

Jougi +1: Honestly speaking this is such a pretty looking body piece, and I wont like exactly the same as every monk ever, which we all know means thats worth some points nowadays.

Thaums Coat: My gut instinct points this set to being best in slot, but the thing is the haste on it isnt necessary for me, but that quadruple attack is gross.

Legs:
This is where I get conflicted. Normally people are using Tantra legs here, but I think calmecac might be better if you have capped acc, which I should. And if I swap to calmecac that would mean using some haste on my head instead of thaumas, meaning tantra crown. So 4% crit rate vs the triple/double attack on calmecac?

Then I have extra haste in my build so I have the option of cutting thamus body into jougi+1 and getting away with still capped haste without having to wear the same damn body as every single other person, but just how much would my DPS be crippled by this? If its any noticeable amount vs the cookie cutter build then probably not worth it...

DEX/STR. AGI will only help the WS. STR helps melee/WS. DEX, in this case, melee only.

Whirlwind Dirs > Ares+1 but Dirs are pretty much pointless.

Bale+2 and Ares+1 have TP uses and both work well with Resolution depending on ACC/ATT.
