Milkster, would you say you prefer the role of persecuted frat boy more than the role of persecuted homosexual?
Maybe you're like the Bo Jackson of this thing.

Bo Knows Sorority Girls~!!
What is this? I've never even touched a man.@Kuya: I figured you'd be on his side, then, considering how much homosex you are fond of.
Where are you getting this hush-hush stuff from? The difference I see is that frat parties create the perfect storm of rape scenarios. Not to mention that a student raping is about the same as a sports player raping as far as I'm concerned and I'm sure donators think the same.
As far as time goes. No, I don't think joining a frat = playing basketball. Frats/sororities do shit at whatever the hell time and you can't exactly say no to it.
@aurara: so what if your time in a frat was good. Can you seriously come in here and say victims of assault/rape should have just said no and drop the rush/pledge process? Come on man, get real. According to the OP only princeton is banning frats, and a bunch of other top schools are banning freshmen from pledging. Nobody has even discussed this part. Here's my take on it: I don't think they should be banned, perhaps ban freshmen from pledging, but what every school should DEFINITELY do is make more education on it mandatory. Some colleges force you into liberal learning classes - maybe make the women/worlds views/etc shit mandatory for first semester people? I know seminars and other shit like that never goes over well with the student body, so that's kind of out lol. I know there are some frats out there that have mandatory classes on defining what it means to be a man and classes on sexual assault.
And check this warped logic out, milkster. Remember when you explained that schools don't look good when their students get caught raping? If frats are associated with rape(they are, idk if you're sold on that yet), then it's in the school's best interest to ban that shit. Your whole, "men in large groups are sketchy" is all these schools need to take the next logical step and seriously ban all male organizations larger than 4 members, like you sarcastically said. Because why not? They're private schools, can do whatever the hell, and it's in their best interest to look good. Unless that group is a sports team - that makes them look better than the chance of them looking bad if someone rapes and if they're caught.
Hey guys, banning murder is fucking stupid because it CAN help people. I even have a data set of 1 case backing this claim up.Banning greek organizations is fucking stupid because they CAN help people, cause I can vouch that fir me, joining AEPi was one of the best things I did as a freshmen.
Lay off Aurara. Since he's in a Jewish frat I'm sure he doesn't know what we're talking about.
@Thunder If a fraternity/sorority is caught hazing they should be shut down on THAT campus is my point. That and you dont have to be in one to drink in college.
Edit: @Mazmaz, AEPi has been in trouble for hazing so I'm well aware of the issues(not sure if trolling, but I wanted to make it clear I understand)
Edit2: @Hey I don't really get your point..?I never said "hey everyone join one". Greek life is not for everyone, and that's totally okay. For me it was a good thing, but for others it may have been a poor choice. I'm well aware of what has gone on/goes on with some greek life, and am completely against it and get heated when some asshole ruins it for everyone.
What does a Jewish frat do during rush? Force feed matzo balls and binge drink manischewitz?
Well, it felt as if you were mocking what I said, so i decided to attempt to clarify my point.
Planning mixers, community service events, Greek Week, Philanthropies, etc. I guess that's loosely associated with people then.
Underage athletes don't consume alcohol? Oh you...
You can thank your Student Government which is predominately comprised of Greek organization members for planning such events and working with the board of governors and trustees, etc, so yes, you can thank them.According to Milkster, you did, and according to Milkster, you can thank your local Holy Greek Fraternity/Sorority for organizing and funding the entire event!
Make sure you pledge, Freshman!
You misunderstand his criticism.
You're saying it's stupid to ban a practice because that practice can help people. Your support for the practice helping people is based solely on your personal experience. If we apply this logic to other practices (His example is murder), it's quite easy to find that banning murder is stupid because it can help people (Namely, the murderer) and one could cite a single case just as you did. In other words, it's not good enough to say that a practice having the potential to help someone means we should cease to ban the practice.
He was mocking you. Just because you had a good time =/= everyone will have a good time. Bit of an unfair analogy, but basically your experience was useless to the discussion at hand.
You can't "catch" people hazing/etc because it isn't done in public and those who are involved WILLINGLY do it. Peer pressure is one hell of a thing and not everybody can beat it. It's never "some asshole" in the topic of party rape on college campuses. It's a huge group.
The fact of the matter is something needs to be done - ivy leagues are moving to ban them. Good for them. I doubt regular schools will remove them anytime soon(our lifetime). They will at least try and push more education onto at least the fraternities.

Yeah, the few mandatory community service events that frats slog through totally makes up for all of the hazing, underage drinking, arrests and rape that goes on behind their booze-soaked doors.
Totally, guys! FUCK YEAH, community service~!!!
