Arizona Abortion Bill: Legislators Pass Three Bills, Including One That Redefines When Life Begins

Arizona lawmakers gave final passage to three anti-abortion bills Tuesday afternoon, including one that declares pregnancies in the state begin two weeks before conception.
The Republican-controlled House of Representatives passed a bill to prohibit abortions after the 18th week of pregnancy; a bill to protect doctors from being sued if they withhold health information about a pregnancy that could cause a woman to seek an abortion; and a bill to mandate that how school curriculums address the topic of unwanted pregnancies.
The other two bills passed by the House include the state's "wrongful birth, wrongful life" bill that prohibits lawsuits against doctors who do not provide information about a fetus' health if that information could lead to an abortion. In addition, parents cannot sue on the child's behalf after birth.

The third bill requires that schools teach students that adoption and birth are the most acceptable outcomes for an unwanted pregnancy.
There are more crazy ass things happening, but are not related to thread.

This is physiologically fucking impossible, unless you're clob.

Most women are on their menses two weeks before conception. Maybe they mean two weeks before implantation. Even then it doesn't make any fucking sense.

Makes perfect sense to me. Arizona is Texas's asshole, and Texas is the US's sweaty ballsack. It's all just testosterone and jock itch, and Arizona is all just a shit factory aimed at Mexico.

This one has been discussed and is actually how things have always been done. Look up any pregnancy site, you are not actually pregnant during week 1 or 2, they count the first day from the end of your last cycle.

Those other 2 ills though are pretty fucking disgusting.

I'm currently facing a possible health crisis. Because I have veteran status and medically discharged from the military, I have access to free or cheaper health care through the local VA hospital, which luckily for me is right nearby. While I waited to be seen yesterday, I considered what I would do or where I would go if I didn't have this access. I have lost almost 20 lbs in less than 2 months, and have been constantly tired and fatigued, with no energy for the past few weeks. I had a chest x-ray, and am going to have every test under the sun run this week, for free. Sadly, this is not an option available to many people.

I think that many government programs fail to do what they set out to do and are a waste of money. However, I don't see how any government money that is helping poor, uninsured Americans get medical assistance is a bad thing or a waste of money. If there is any debate involving those services, it shouldn't be about whether or not they should be there. It should be about whether they can help people more effectively through internal system changes, or outreach to educate people before they need the assistance.

If anyone wants to bitch about wasted government money, bitch about something that is an actual waste. When I was in the military I saw first hand how much money is wasted. The process of funding to departments of government is not in anyway designed to encourage frugality. Every year, specific sections get a specific amount of funds set aside for the next year. At the end of the year, if they don't use it all, the government will allow less for the next year. So starting about 2-3 months before the end of each fiscal year, every government office begins a spending spree, trying to use up every last bit of money. This encourages the government to seek more funds for that section the next year. There is no real oversight, and most people are ignorant of this process. So run away wasteful funding drives spending up year by year, for no other reason other than to insure that those offices of government will continue to have plenty of money handy. Funding from government to things like PP is a drop in the bucket next to this.

This is actually true. The requirements to be a doctor in the US have little to nothing to do with ensuring the quality of our physicians, as it does with protecting the medical cartel(AMA) by limiting the supply of doctors available to the public.

It is much much harder to be a doctor in the US than is reasonable, and we disqualify a ton of people who would frankly be good at their jobs. Other countries have *significantly* less stringent requirements and do not suffer in the quality of their physicians.

Disclaimer: Biased, I've actually always wanted to be a medical doctor, but wasn't willing to jump through 10-15yrs of hoops and another 10 years of debt on top of that

I can actually corroborate what he is saying. I have met a ton of student doctors who should have taken a different career yet magically they're in med school.

I'll get in on my own merit, thank you. If I don't, I still enjoy what it is I do now - hold the hands of assholes like you because you're too stupid to interpret your own results.

Luke 6:20-21 Then he looked up at his disciples and said: 'Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

'Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. 'Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

Matthew 25:34-36 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, "Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me."

    Romans 13:4:
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
