Another moving thread! Hopefully Seattle this time.

So after my last thread (and a few dozen people who I know that have apparently lived in Buffalo in the past) convinced me to stay away from upstate NY I decided why not try the other side of the country. Right now I'm looking at the Seattle area.

Weather's not a concern since I'm used to the wet and snow and Seattle looks rather ideal for the tech-inclined. Not to mention it looks like you guys have a pretty decent public transport system (no car at the moment). I have a few questions, though, and I'm hoping some of you guys can help me out.

    1) Any recommended places to look at for apartments? Currently I'm looking around Kent, North Seattle, Tacoma, Seatac, and Burien. My price range is no higher than $800-$850/mo for rent. I'm looking to move late-july, if that helps any. Also any specific spots to avoid? I tried looking in Bellevue but I quickly noticed anything within my price range is considered "low-income housing" and I don't quite qualify for that.

    2) This might be a far stretch, but I'd be a fool to not try some networking... Does anyone know of any job postings? I did a quick look around Craigslist and noticed the job market in Seattle definitely looks promising, but I figured why not ask BG first? I'm moving with the finances that'll allow me to be self-sufficient for a few months, but getting a job ASAP is in my best interest.

Thanks for the help, and thanks to the other thread for helping talk me out of Buffalo! It sounded like I'd be rather miserable up there.

Just texted with my friend who lives in Duvall and said there should be plenty of places for that budget.

I visit Seattle every year to attend PAX Prime and out of all the cities and towns I've visited around Seattle, I really like Redmond. My friends in Duvall rented in Redmond before getting a house. I'll get back to you once they get me back with a figure.

Thanks, it's much appreciated. I've sent out a few emails/calls and it seems a lot of the times the rent is higher than they advertise on websites. Just gonna have to wade through it all and keep looking!

Yeah, they paid about a grand a month, and $1100 their final year before getting a house in 2009. They said the best way to find a good place with a decent tag was to actually go out and look for yourself. A lot of time the advertised price isn't set in stone.
