Was it strictly due to an entirely private beef, or did they provide independently verifiable reasons for rejection? If the latter is the case, there's nothing wrong with the rejection, even if they're personally biased due to that. If the former is true, and as mentioned, it's foolish for what I believe is an enthusiast site to refuse controversial content.

What kind of readership does the site have?

If it has high readership and constant content generation, rejecting an article without reading it isn't unprofessional at all. It's normal, and it's happened since the days of the Industrial Revolution. Expecting everything you write to be read is asking to be burnt out on this industry before you even get started. You are not that special, and you have to accept that -- the sooner the better.

On the other hand, if their content generation is slow as shit and they have a small reader base, and the few people on their site aren't catered to like a bunch of oversensitive cunts, denying an eye-grabbing article is stupid. It'll bring in some traffic, and that's usually what sites want.

Purely for the former reason. He would not even READ it. Or look at it. Or anything. It was purely for personal reasons. IMO that's not journalism, that's rookie wannabe shit. Also the site is [REDACTED] so check it out yourself for the other questions.
