He said act3 Hell and either way he's not off the mark. I had like 10k to my name after wasting gold on shitty chest pieces. Went to dick aroud 30 minutes on witch doctor dying a few times and still managed to end up with 35k or so and all my toons repaired.

His point was, that getting enough gold is not that hard. Really if one is dying with no real progress (read: killing minions) its faster to just reset the game.

And other peoples point is inferno is still expensive. Is it manageable? Yes. Is it also annoying as fuck and an unnecessary time sink? Yes.

Getting gold is a by-product of killing shit, how is that a time sink?
If you can't kill shit join a group or if you want to play solo then BLlizzard mission accomplished as the game is as hard as thay advertised?

You might have a point if act1/2 weren't dropping better loot than 3/4 atm.

Yep, I die alot on my undergeared barbarian. Thinkin it might be time to shelve him and concentrate on a portion of the game that doesn't require me to farm content 10 levels below me to progress, only so that when I'm actually playing the level 60 content the majority of my loot can be sub 60. Then the rare piece I do get above 60 is usually fucking garbage anyways. Played for 3 hours today, didn't get a single rare I didn't vendor, which has been about the same for about the past week.

Then after repairing and buying more potions, I'm lucky if I broke even tonight, probably not.

I saw someone singing the praises of Arreat Crater claiming like 600k/hr plowing shit in Nightmare. I tried it a couple times just for giggles, but rarely broke 3k in runs that maybe took 5m or less depending on champ packs. Bumped up to Hell and maybe got anywhere between 7-10k, but the time crept up to more like 8-10m. I don't have a GF set, so while slapping on 200% (if possible) without sacrificing too much damage could bump a run up to 21-30k, it still wouldn't match the numbers the guy was boasting.

In general, I think it's fucktarded to even be running an earlier difficulty just so you can try to sustain yourself in a later one. And while I generally accumulate cash slowly on playthroughs, it's not at any satisfactory pace that could buy multi-million gold items at like a week of modest play for mid-tier upgrades. BiS stuff is just unthinkable unless you're lucky enough for it to drop for you. Bad luck can easily suck up a half hour's worth of "farming" time, too. So, yeah, I'm in agreement there's a bit of that forcing a hardcore style going on, but I was also raising a stink about 5x costs when it was first brought up for this reason.

Barbs with Threatening Shout/Grim Harvest, Hammer of the Ancients/Birthright could potentially be a great build for that. I know 100% that Grim Harvest drops gold and gold find works with the skill, I'd assume the same with Birthright. Use Leap and Charge to get around. Ground Stomp before using TS. Do the same thing the DH did.

Only issue is don't have a pet collecting gold for you.

Hadn't really thought about radius pickup. Just noticed my ferret being retarded when I'd tried and half the time just sitting there while gold sat on the ground so I'd just run to it anyway. Oh well, doubt I'll actually do this since it'd be boring as fuck and probably next on Blizzard's nerf block, anyway.

Gold pickup radius also applies to globes, so it's hardly a wasted stat. Hell, I ran a 27 yard and 6k+ on globe setup on my wiz for awhile and it was pretty damned sexy. Hardly helps you out on bosses, but it makes farming a fucking breeze.

Good stats on barb tank builds as well. Threatening Shout/Grim Harvest can drop globes too. Nothing wrong with another healing ability every 15 seconds.

So I tried making a build to utilize hammer of the ancients - birthright. "Critical Hits have a 10% chance to cause treasure or health globes to drop." I then performed easily over 1000 critical hits and was rewarded with 3 piles of gold.

Either it's been broken forever or "treasure" means gold onry and the health globe to treasure distribution is 95:5. I submitted a bug report, but I doubt they'll fix it.

Keep getting deaths i can't explain on my wizard. I'll get dropped to 10% hp by a hit, i'll immediately frost nova everything, then half a second later i fall over dead. No DoT's on me, nothing shooting at me, but the game just seems to say "nope, fuck you" and kills me. Aggrivating.

Are you getting hit by the Succubus ability, I think it's Star Nova? I believe it causes damage when using spells / ranged. On DH I would SS to dodge it for 0 damage, but I would still get the debuff then kill myself without noticing what happened.

Nah it's happening in act 1 lately. Star nova has a dot icon anyways, and i'm 100% certain I don't have anything when i die.
