To be fair though for all she knows that cop could have been following her for twenty minutes Ace lol.

There is also a big difference between 15 seconds of extra driving to find a safe stopping point, and 3 minutes to find a spot.
I'm going to call 911 every time I get lights behind me just to fuck with cops now.
Maybe it was DMX
She played it loud. That was one of the tickets written on top of the several criminal charges that were subsequently dropped when they settled with her and gave her $2000 for the misconduct.
The cop told her that he was following her for 2 or 3 minutes. That's the only reason she knew how long it was. She was totally in the wrong for speeding, no mirrors, music loud enough that the cop could hear it over the other highway sounds while he was following her, no insurance, and not wearing a seatbelt. It all got dropped because of the adrenaline fueled actions of the police officers involved.
So I had no idea you could call 911 to verify before you pull over lol..
I also had a friend of mine get pulled over once and she pulled into a parking lot literally a 100 feet ahead and he got all bitchy about it. Went off about how she needs to stop right away and on the side of the road. Even though it was a tiny 1 lane street. I guess it's okay to do that afterall huh?
We have cops around here that are clearly identifiable from across a football field. Then we have Yamhill county cops that wear brown slacks with a black button-up shirt and a small name tag/badge that is unreadable unless you are within a couple feet. I can totally understand someone being uneasy and wanting clear identification when being pulled over by one of the Yamhill Co. officers. They have the utility belt and earbud radio, but I can get those from my local HAM radio shop.
Wasn't there a case several years ago where a guy was rolling around in a police cruiser "arresting" young women and raping them?
I can see why this guy can get away with this so easily. In my AAA truck, I had white strobe lights in the front and red strobes in the back. It looked nothing like a cop car, but if I accidentally left those on after clearing a roadside call, I would have people pulling to the side of the road when I approached. They will pull over for anyone that has flashing lights.
Moral of the story: finding a safe spot in which to pull over sounds good in theory but it's terrible in practice because apparently cops hate that.
Also, I had another question to ask but can't remember because I got distracted by Brill's sig for like 2 minutes and lost my train of thought (seriously).
If you call to make sure its a real cop, won't they contact that officer over the radio or something? So he'll know exactly why you didn't stop. I doubt someone is gonna get thrown from their car or have a gun pointed at them if the cop knows whats going on.
I agree, I was being pulled over once and there was a narrow shoulder. The exit to the airport I was driving to was another 3/4 of a mile away, so I slowed down to half the speed limit and got on the shoulder but kept driving. I got about half way there before his lights turned into sirens wailing with lights, so I just stopped right there. He asked why I didn't pull over right away and I explained that the shoulder is narrow and the highway sucks, it'd be safer for us both to wait for the exit. He said don't worry about it, not a big deal, but appreciated the concern and let me go with a warning.
Shit was awesome lol.
I'd rather deal with the extremely, extremely rare chance that the cop is not a real cop and is coming to kill me, than the likely to very likely chance that I'll severely piss off the cop if I take 5 minutes to verify he's a real cop while he's following me, lights and siren blasting.
Usually you should stop when reasonable, and keep your hands on the steering wheel in view. Keep your windows rolled up till the officer knocks on your window and identifies themselves (script is usually "Hello sir/ma'am i'm Officer Suchandsuch with the Metro Police. The reason I stopped you today is (this). May I see your drivers license etc.")
A lot of times (and I can attest to this) when you hit the siren, they jump 3-4 lanes to pull over, slam the brakes, nearly kill someone before actually stopping. Therefore, the DC Police made the DMV give guideline speeches when issuing licenses that basically tell you to pull over when reasonable, in a well lit area, keep your hands on wheel, don't get out and such and such. Reasonable can translate to a lot of different things depending on the jurisdiction but if there's a nice pull off and street lights are on, it's not reasonable to go three exits down and look for a gas station.
But on the same line of thinking, if you're driving the speed limit, not being evasive, and the stop isn't a felony, there's no applicable law to charge you with fleeing and eluding alone as it's an aggregating charge and not a standalone charge. To charge you, they would have to have something arrestable to hit you with like reckless driving or possession with fleeing and eluding as an aggregating charge to hit you with that 1.5times penalty (depending on the jurisdiction).
Wait, don't roll down my window until they come? In my car, I can't roll the windows up or down unless I start my car up. So my options would be to either roll down the window immediately and turn my car off, or to leave my car on or turn it on when the cops come so I can roll my window down.
