arx, wanna post spec? all the gear is prolly too tedious so I wont ask thatI take it you go with 40ish resist and crit on gear?
Fresh 60 DH. Any spec recommendations for farming and for plowing through inferno?
assuming you're already using hungering arrow (devouring) and nether tentacles. you're gonna have to get really good with smokescreen (lingering fog mandatory). since pretty much everything 1 shots you past act 1 you're basically in evasion mode the entire time. preparation is a must to keep your dp levels up. the rest is interchangeable for the most part.
Well good, cause that is what I was doing.
And I'm used to getting 1shot on my WD, so its not much different. Act1 inferno was much easier on DH than it was on WD, even with half (or less) the hp.
btw, what bow are you currently using?
I grabbed a blue 1023.8 dps bow with +17% ias for like 350 or 400k.
So I finally completed nightmare, and my build changed almost immediately. Here is what I'm using in Hell act I (lv 52 using a shield) right now, still messing a bit with refining the passives but it's working pretty well so far. Maybe by the time I clear Hell the 1.03 patch will be out to tweak Inferno.

Trying to farm act III Inferno with this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...RXO!TdY!YYbbaY
HP is 38k, all resists around 380 and 22k DPS but I still have a lot of problems with anything that is either to fast to kite or in an area where kiting is not viable. Any suggestions?
I would recommend switching your teleport rune from reversal to fracture...unless theres something i'm missing i am not really sure what situation reversal would be of more use than fracture. Also, I would recommend trying to switch out diamond skin for magic weapon. In my experiences your defensive stats should be more than enough with force armor, but your dps is a little lacking so magic weapon would help make that up some.
I love reversal since as long as you keep line of sight you can make huge teleports within the 8 second reversal time. I'll try dropping diamond skin for magic weapon but it does save my ass a lot in cramped quarters.
Yeah it was tough for me to drop diamond skin as well. I really enjoyed it for reflect damage mobs when my health was lower lol. And I find that illusionist is enough of a lifesaver when i find myself in bad situations... usually just spam my teleport key in preparation when i know i'm about to get hit and my teleport is on cooldown. Seems to work often enough.
Why use arcane dynamo? I thought it was shown it didnt work on Hydra? And cant see the damage on Blizzard being worth it. Or have I missed an update on that? :3
Yeah, Arcane Dynamo is a wasted slot in that build, and honestly, I can't think of a really good reason to run Diamond Skin if you're using both Illusionist and Teleport. And yeah... Fracture is the way to go with Teleport, it basically gives you the effect of Mirror Image, which normally requires using another active skill slot. For your Blizzard, I tend to find that the AP reduction rune is far better than Stark Winter, because it gives you more choice in how you spend your AP with the skill (Like dropping 4 in a row in a hallway for less AP than you would spend for 2 with Stark Winter.), as well as letting you drop crucial Blizzards when you are low on AP and just need to get some space between you and the mobs. As far as the Magic Missle, dunno. I always run Thrown Blades or Piercing Orb, no other Signature Spell even compares in my opinion. I can't imagine not using Force Weapon, it adds more to your DPS than pretty much any skill or piece of gear you can equip outside of your weapon itself. Galvanizing Ward is really nice as well if you're using Force Armor and Templar and have a bit of life regen on your gear, it can have you ready to take another 35% health hit in mere seconds.
i'm only on nightmare with my wizard, but comet is fucking retarded in acts 1/3 indoors. the mob AI is so bad you can toss down a few comets and they wont come after you if you're a full screen away. works up/down floors too.
Recently got to hell on my wiz. Up until then I was using spectral blades(bleeding)/arcane orb(extra damage) but as soon as I hit hell arcane orb stopped being viable damage. Toyed with a few replacements but ended up switching to venom hydra and never looked back :D Sogood.
Can't wait to get thrown blades, spectral blade is srs win. I can't bring myself to use any of the other sig spells, spec blade just feels so powerful and destructive comparatively.
I've only been using diamond skin(+time) but getting cornered by a pack of elites with fire chains or fast or w/e is pretty awful and has caused me to die once so far. No way out except teleport I suppose. Thing is I don't have anything I want to drop for teleport. My other skills are energy armor, magic wep and familiar(sparkflint) for even more damage. Cut through mobs so easy, but getting cornered = death. Wat do? I guess the obvious answer is drop sparkflint for teleport.
Question, do magic wep and sparkflint count with weapon damage for hydra or just your actual wep's damage?
^used to love spectral blades, but split magic missile is what i've been maining. Shit is strong and good for ranged packs. And fuck yeah venom hydra. it's retarded how much dmg it does. Pray it never gets nerfed.
edit: been using this setup with good success so far, switching out archon for comet depending on where I am. On act3 nightmare atm. Any advice as i reach the harder difficulties? \http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...RXm!cYa!ZaZbaa
It's funny how perception works. I tried SB, but found it an atrocious skill, instead sticking to Electrocute with the 6 target rune as my signature spell. I'd also disagree on Orb being useless, but I also favored the 20 yard rune to better improve AoEing. I'm sure my tune may change a bit as I get deeper into Hell or even Inferno, but I'd just say to try and find a good level 60 weapons with a -level req mod to help ya along.
I have been using Magic Missle - Split since the second I unlocked it and never turned back.
I would highly recommend switching out Archon for Mirror Image for survivability in the near future. It's nice for swarms because they'll gather on a clone where you can AoE the shit out of them with Arcane Orb/Venom Hydra and it's hax on big single-targets because they'll waste so much time chasing the wrong target while you wail on them.
Duplicates = higher odds of distracting
Extension of Will = helps eat up some of the cooldown
Simulacrum = for more dangerous mobs that kill clones too quickly
Magic Missle - Split is my favorite signature spell/rune because of the synergy between it and per-hit effects... and 150% damage per attack on big targets that eat all the projectiles is nice
Venom Hydra is just hax.
Diamond Skin is pretty much a necessity, but I'm personally torn between Crystal Shell and Enduring Skin runes.
Arcane Orb is also a given... Incinerate/Ray of Frost/Arcane Torrent are all very disappointing to me.
I used to be all about Frost Nova, but I recently switched it out for Magic Weapon - Blood Weapon since when it's paired with a well-placed Venom Hydra, I get a steady stream of life returned. Frost Nova just wasn't keeping mobs frozen long enough to make a difference in surviving anymore.
They do. In fact, magic weapon seems to add directly to your weapon's damage before mods, that's why it gives a higher percentage on your "damage" number than what's on the tooltip. Sparkflint increases your total damage after mods and works on every spell as well.
I used Chain Lightning exclusively as my SS until I got Thrown Blades. Thrown Blades can hit more targets, does more damage per target, and seems to stagger enemies better than electrocute. Not to mention it goes through walls. There's nothing quite like dropping a venom hydra in a doorway, laying down 4-5 blizzards in a room, then standing around the corner and smashing the living shit out of everything with spectral blades as it tries to reach the doorway.
