Sounds about right. There's a part of me that wants to hear him read some kind of steamy sex scene just for the lulz.
Ugh I hate these "fans" that bitch and moan about EVERYTHING the Toonami guys do. And the myth that Naruto killed Toonami is retarded. Back then the show was a ratings boost, not a killer. CN is what killed Toonami in '08. It's too bad they can't disclose what did kill it, but it certainly was not Naruto.
Why does he keep mentioning pretenders?
Those are the old bumps from 05-07. hes talking about shows like Jake Long American Dragon, and other shows during that time that featured Asian themed heroes.
Even back then I had no idea who the fuck Jake Long was. x.x
I forgot how popular it really was until I watched this.

UPDATED SCHEDULE - EFFECTIVE 12/15/12
So Tenchi Muyo GXP wasn’t performing like we would have liked. We still want to keep it on the air, but we’re sliding it a little later. Sorry GXP fans, hopefully you can still watch. Good news is a lot of other shows will be earlier. Thanks again for watching everybody. Hope you like the new line-up!
12a - Bleach - rerun
12:30a - Naruto - Uncut
1:00a - Thundercats
1:30a - Samuari 7
2:00a - Sym-Bionic Titan
2:30a - Eureka 7
3:00a - Tenchi Muyo GXP
3:30a - Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
4-5a - Cowboy Bebop
5-6a - Inuyasha
Im sorry.. but that is quite possibly there worst line up ive ever seen.
shoestring budget, opinions etc
And toonami dies again =(
not but really, half the shows are reruns people have seen a thousand times, or shows that, like they said, havent been performing that well. Toonami is becoming more and more like adult swim, where it's relegated to backround noise while I'm on the computer or tablet.
Not surprised GXP isn't doing well at all. Still say there's pretty much a maximum distance you can reach back for "new" shows to keep people interested. Basically more than 3 years is pushing it, as you can otherwise bet the otakus have seen it and won't care.
Everything is a re-run once it's in the states. New episode in the west? Rerun
ka-boom
But seriously. Bleach and Naruto brings in the crowd regardless. Having watched GXP couple years back I didn't really expect it to do 'well'. It is a good idea to get it out of the way as AS and Toonami has never aired it before until now.
Given the proliferation of u-Tor and streaming, I'm inclined to agree that most shows will be reruns of sorts. What's a winning line up then? Imo, a mix of older and new animes that are either "shit people wouldn't normally watch" or "that damn good." Furthermore, remember that the 4-6 slot may as well be reruns because I doubt many stay up past that. I'll go with the additional 4-5 period series for this example though (Absolutely doubting the 5-6 period will be profitable).
Bleach
Flames of Recca
Naruto
Monster
Darker Than Black
Card Captor Sakura
Soul Eater
Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro
Eden of the East
.Hack/Roots
That's my guess for a good line up. Of course, don't rerun once the series finishes.
While I watched Monster, I don't see it being a good fit for Toonami. It's more drama than action, nevermind some of the absurdities the main villain gets away with just because. And given the majority of viewership is probably college+ males, CCS is probably a good way to alienate people, too. I feel like them deviating too much from action bites them in the butt, as shows like Paranoia Agent, I feel, weren't good or good fits. And I still hope we never see FLCL again.
Of recent shows, I'm hoping they're trying to pick up Fate/Zero. I'm sure money is an issue here, though, given the show did well. Maybe even shoot for FSN before that given the tie-in. I'd consider similar for SAO despite it still running. DtB would be a good fit, and if SAO works, I'm sure whatever .hack iteration would, too, even though I've only really seen Sign. I can't speak for some of the others given disinterest, having not seen it, or my "the name didn't get an english equivalent" syndrome that feels like a death knell to a show's exportation potential.
What the fuck at this furry character shit, Tenchi.
Spoiler: show
Guess it's time to peace out until Symbionic Titan.
