More time for American Dad, Cleaveland show, Family Guy and King of the hill reruns... again... still better than 99% of their own shows imho (not counting Venture bros and Black dynamite).

I probably fall under that category of "Don't watch past 3 AM, because hell, I need sleep. It's a struggle to stay up even through 2 AM for me sometimes. The problem I have is, however, is when do the cuts stop. They could turn around and say past 2 AM is not bringing ratings, then past 1 AM, then Toonami isn't bringing in ratings at all. And then boom Toonami is no more yet again. Granted this is very pessimistic of me, but there is past precedence to go on.
Its just to late for me when I have to be at work by 8AM. even Kill la Kill something I want to watch is pushing it for me >.< idk if it helps or not but my box is on still.
Even though I saw that one Inuyasha scene coming for years , actually seeing it with the music in the background brought back the feels.
I've noticed it airing a lot but not that often.
Kinda get the feeling they hate the anime block, honestly, since it's not all cheaply produced shit comedy. So, sooner they can scrap it, more money they save. :<
Honestly it feels surreal seeing this air on TV now. I don't know why but it just does.
Also Mako is voiced by Nepgear from the neptunia games. S'all good for me. I know that tone of voice easy.
And now TV goes off.
Mike Lazzo, the executive producer in charge of Adult Swim, once said he hates anime. Still, I don't think the decision to shorten it had anything to do with him. I believe them when they say it's because of the ratings. You know that most people stop watching after they air the new stuff. That's what I have always done.
Mike Lazzo was the one that suggested they do the April Fools Toonami thing years ago. Yeah I'm sure he hates anime man.
Ratings beyond those times dropped because of how late it was and I don't blame anyone.
Just unfortunate they cut the lead-in time, too. It'd be one thing if it started at 10 instead, and I do understand censorship at earlier hours is a thing, but still... :/
Never really understood the 'ratings' reason for dropping the shows, its past 3am EST, wtf are they losing to at that hour? Someone care to tell me how that all works.
Ratings are kind of an antiquated concept, I feel, especially with delivery of content growing more robust over time, legit or not. Pragmatically, I'd say they use it as a gauge of who will subsequently view commercials, which advertisers will then pony up their own funds in exchange to be aired. Lower the ratings, the less advertisers are willing to pony up or compete for the spot. Socially, I just can't see people giving a shit about commercials outside the super bowl, as they become times to go to the bathroom, grab a snack, or whatever. Very rarely does an actual ad make me think, "Oh man, I gotta go by that now!" nevermind the fact food ads after a restaurant has long since closed for the night is just derp to me.
Either way, streaming companies trying to inject commercials is exactly why I P2P if I can. Don't need a fucking car ad every 8 minutes or 5 hour energy shit. Screwing me because I do have adblock up isn't doing any favors, either.
Yeah that part I get, ratings=money for advertisers blah blah. But what I don't get is, do we know the average ratings toonami was getting past the 3am hour and how some other channels were doing in the same hours.
Considering Saturdays are shit in general for all TV networks, it's fucking 3 AM, and they've lost their Dish viewership i'm not sure what the fuck the logic was behind the move, unless they're saving money somehow by spamming yet more Family Guy.
Moreover, that late, your only competition is shitty movies from 4+ years ago and infomercials.
Maybe they were relatively high but then dropped? I dunno. The only reason I'd want to stay up that late anyway would be for Bebop/Dandy.
I was one of people cut off from it by Dish, had to use my friends cable info to even stream it but no idea if those numbers helped. When Dish was stalling for the contract I'm pretty sure that lead to a large decline in their viewership, though probably not the main reason.
