Yeah, pretty much. Women tend to not go for promotions as much as men do. They are more likely to undervalue their work. There are very strong and very old cultural and social traditions that are underlying this sort of behaviour. It's something that each subsequent generation is slowly getting out of - I have a lot of hope for future generations of women, but it needs men to work with the movement too, and there are still many who see women as being a threat to them in their positions. So yeah, that's why it's still a big deal.

You clearly have not asked god to grant you the serenity to accept the things you cannot change.

I have a theory about this but it is based on a lot of generalizations and anecdotal evidence so it is not exactly generalizable or particularly well-supported.

Don't forget the wisdom to know the difference part either... that's important.

so, pretty much, what i see it come down to a lot in my field, is when you have such a high m:f ratio, you have a ton of horny males struggling to make themselves stand out of the crowd to impress the lone female figures. these men are ultra-motivated because they want to be the very best like no one ever was and score some nerd pussy because there's no way in fuck they are going to be able to attract normal people.

the women in my field, on the other hand, are constantly inundated with hordes of horny males vying for their attention, so they don't have to try or improve themselves at all in order to stand out. they already stand out by virtue of having a vagina. the average STEM nerd is not so chauvinistic as to consistently mock a female STEM nerd as that would obliterate their already-slim chances of landing nerd pussy, so there isn't as much motivational anger or need to prove oneself as there used to be.

Men excel because they want pussy. Women just become jaded because they're sick of everyone chasing after their pussy. The former benefit a great deal from their pussy-motivated self-improvement, while the latter tend to be left in the dust.

    Anecdotal and all that jazz.

I got hired once for an IT job purely because I was female. It was pretty discouraging (they didn't tell me for a while; after they told me I worked there for a couple more months then quit); I certainly didn't feel valued for what I could do (which was way more than they wanted me to for the job).

my gf got into UVA because she is a female from the south. She thinks if she were from northern virginia there is no chance she would have gotten in. I did not get into UVA, I am a white male from a land that loves its homosexuals and different cultures.

In America perhaps. In other places that have decent electoral systems we can have a lot better effect, because politicians don't have to worry so much about political fundraising. The whole US electoral system needs reform, and really badly. You're stuck in an increasingly partisan system that has little basis in the reality of peoples' needs.
