Time travel is very easy to dick around with in a casual setting without getting into anything complicated because of how time dilation works. You can take a trans-atlantic flight and travel through time with respect to someone standing on the ground. It doesn't mean you can go fuck the Olsen twins pre-drugs, but that's just a matter of how people perceive time travel.

This is all no-fucking-shit stuff to you so I'm still wondering why you gotta be so mad about encouraging dreams. Dreams are where science is born, son.

Workin' on it, dog. Astrophysics was a hobby and a minor for years. I maintain correspondence with a lot of people in the field, and I've swapped focus recently to start work on my master's in physics.

You ain't doing as much service to the field as you think you are by broadsiding casual science talk, though. Shit's interesting, shit's fun, and shit's harmless. Like I already said, if someone did take that post serious enough to go build a spaceship and ask for instructions on how to fuck dinosaurs, then fuck you the guy built a spaceship. Yo if you think I should be less casual about science on the intrawebs, by all means state your case. The way i see it, ostracizing science from everyday conversation by eliminating the middle ground between the LHC thread and everywhere else is even more harmful, as it prevents non-scientists from participating or showing interest in anything science-related. Science literacy and science accessibility are important, and the former can only develop when you have the latter along with the capability to generate interest.

doesn't sound harsh, imo, but only because I know miz is never fully serious unless he's in rage mode, and you never wanna see that

he's given chari a few well-deserved verbal beatings over the years but still is tight with him. Don't mind miz, he'll just calls 'em as he sees them, and he's got a damn sharp tongue, like a male kohan with a slight case of the street-mouth.

personally, instead of getting your back up, I'd ask for pointers if and where they might be needed. I don't think anyone is disagreeing with the idea that to stifle discussion is ill-advised, but some people want what they care about to be disseminated properly. I'm not saying (and unable to gauge) that you're wrong, but look past the hot-like-fiyah words and maybe talk a little shop with the man

I don't mind pointers and I'm always down to talk shop, but it seems that the crux of the problem as I understand it is he feels that my expositions are often dumbed down and/or oversimplified to a degree which he finds unacceptable. I'm not entirely sure what he wants me to do about that. There is a balance that has to be struck between being technically correct and being casual enough to effectively communicate science with a non-STEM audience.

If anything I said was flat out wrong, I'd appreciate the correction.
