Am I missing something here? He was definitely wrong about time travel being easy and about the science being there, but you can't expect someone who isn't even a scientist to know details about black holes and general relativity. It's not like he's sticking to his guns and insisting his science is correct. He's not claiming to be some super brilliant scientist who knows the secret to time travel. He even went as far as to say (to quote him because he said it better than I can)

And yeah sure, if you want to say it's irresponsible to understate the difference between the hypothetical and the real-world implementation of half of anything that falls under into the realm of relativity that's cool.

Because of this, I don't see anything wrong with what he's done in this thread (as long as he doesn't continue to keep making said irresponsible claims and will admit that time travel isn't easy and that his posted ideas/theories aren't exactly science). There's nothing wrong with being wrong. I'm sure I've said more wrong things about science in the last year than all of you put together. As long as you can admit when you're wrong and you're willing to keep educating yourself, I don't see a problem.

Then again, I've never read any of this posts outside this thread so maybe I just don't know enough about him or his pattern of behavior to see why he's a problem. Trust me, if I got even the slightest Max vibe from him I'd be raging all over this thread. It took years for pest control to finally eradicate the first Max. Last thing I want is another infestation.

Edit: And when he says things like "time travel is easy to dick around with" I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he has conversations about some "popular science" theories. For example, Michio Kaku likes to talk about the "science" behind sci fi stuff, but he never claims that everything in scifi movies/shows are possible or plausible. GG made it sound as if his posted ideas about time travel were possible/plausible, which is wrong, but I think he's willing to admit that.

he pulls this pseudo-science/psychology/philosophy/political shit in nearly every thread, gets calls on it, claims 'just playin' ( or even more boldly claims that the party/parties calling him on his shit are the uneducated ones ) and then goes right back the spewing of bullshit. If Miz hadn't called him on his shit he wouldn't have backpedalled so fast and kept right at it in proper Maxteem style.


Having a passion for something or a hobby is great, but trying to engage people in meaningful conversation about complex ideas and hard science based on your love of pulpy topical TV shows is just grounds for constant ridicule and trollan.

There are plenty of people who find topics like this infinitely interesting, however we tend to simply lurk the threads related to them and enjoy what the pros say because we have the humility to realize we have absolutely nothing to add to the conversation. Uneducated , speculative jerkoffs like Maxteem and gg deserve to be run out of town for adding clutter to the conversation and not shutting the fuck up. Well, if this is true, then he does deserve the criticism and if this is true then I definitely don't want him around. And I probably shouldn't be trying to defend him when I'm pretty much the only one here who hasn't read any of his posts before this thread (hence making me pretty much the only person here who doesn't know what the hell he's talking about). I'll continue to give him the benefit of the doubt in my own mind until I see his behavior myself, but I wont argue since you guys all know him and I don't and hence you're more likely to be right about him than I am.

But even if he is that bad, I can't see him approaching MaxTM levels. He's says he's getting a masters in physics. The fact that he's actually getting educated on the subject automatically means he can't be as annoying as Max even if he tried. One time I argued with Max for like a week about length contraction (something you can learn - mathematics and all - in a day or two. He literally spent more time arguing with me about it than it would have taken him to just go to the library and actually learn the material and see for himself why he's wrong. It takes a special kind of person to be that adverse to learning a subject he claimed to both love and to be an expect in).
