Don't have exact stat weights but probably around the time you hit 20%~ or so crit without Sharpshooter active. So yeah, pretty early on in your level cap life.

That being said, weapons socketed with rubies are still amazing for low level characters, lol.

In act 4 I died all the time against champions and rare, but in act 1 Inferno I've yet to die and can solo 2 champion/rare packs at the same time.
It's mainly a difference of mob families. Look at Act IV. You've got two different types of mobs that can charge at you from off screen (and for big damage, to boot). Act IV also has a higher abundance of mobs capable of ranged attacks as well as more dense enemy groupings. It's not so much the mods the elites/champs are packing, but the native tools a given mob family starts with.

Act I? Okay, some archers, cultists, and goats can hit you from afar. Rest are melee and often easily telegraphed moves (tree sprouts, the shit with the clubs, beasts pausing to snort before charging, etc.). Lurkers are probably among the highest threats within the act for their sheer movement speed, with the smaller spiders taking a runner up (and hitting deceptively hard for their size). Yeah, A1 is easier than A2, but stat bloat in A2 aside, it's also harder for reasons why A4 Hell may seem more difficult.

Act IV mobs always seem pretty easy to me compared to II and III.

I agree with this A4 was always a breath of fresh air after 2 and 3. So much easier compared.

Eh, I tend to agree although Mallet Lords and Corrupt Angels can die in a fire.

Go check out my WD build for act 2 in the build thread

Honestly never had a problem with either. Probably because of Force Armor, mobs that hit hard but slow are a cakewalk for a wizard with a shield and decent VIT.

Mallet lords became mad easy once I realized that you can easily avoid their attacks.

For barb you just have to charge "inside" them and stay there. They can't hit you.

    As a FRESH 60 DH, 900-1k dps 2h or 800-900dps 1h? Only looking to spend 200-300k.

I'll probably just goldfind/goblin/resplendent farm for a while and maybe mess around with butcher.

Either will do through A2, at least. Crossbow may give you issues on situations where you're heavily mobbed with animation lock, though.

Is there any benefit to getting Poison/Holy/Arcane/Fire damage on a weapon instead of just plain damage?

    They each have small benefits.
For example, cold will put a short duration snare on anything you hit.

I did not know that. You've mentioned one of the easier ones to figure out, though. What do the others do? Poison could have a chance to put a short DoT on the target (in addition to the "poison damage" dealt, I guess?), and I think my lightning occasionally spreads out hitting multiple monsters (only on a killshot?) but I'm at a loss for what the others might do.

Pretty sure fire has a chance to explode when you kill shit.

I believe killshots with fire has a chance for the corpse to explode. Holy has a chance to heal. I recall seeing a thread about this on Reddit but I can't find it anymore, it was about a week ago.

So how do MF bonuses work? If I wear my best/regular gear to fight a mob but right before I kill it I switch to my MF+ gear, does that still count towards the drops? I would assume so but I'm curious. Was thinking about building a set just for that purpose....

Yes. Exactly how it worked in D2.

Are there gear swap macros? I thought gear changes messed up your NV too?

gear change doesn't but no, this is exactly why they left out the second weapon slots to prevent people from swapping mf weapon/shields.
