Open socket 1k+ is pretty good, been using a 1k bow with a 70% crit gem. Will keep until I stumble upon enough gold to buy one of those ridiculous priced things.

There are way too many weapons on the AH. Basically I'm looking to spend 400-500k on a bow and I'm sorting between like 10 that vary by 5dps, the type of damage, and 1-2% ias. I wish there were less of these up lol.
Its like, 992.6 lightning dmg ias 17%, or 992.0 holy ias 18%. Then there are the 970's with 19-20%.
Wish I could see how much dps increase it was before buying.
I would go for highest DPS, high DPS with socket if you can find it. IAS is wasted a lot of the time as solo DH, since you are kiting a lot.
On my WD its the opposite, IAS is more important solo so I can kite better.
On wizard, why does a wand give a lot better Damage than another weapon if they have the same DPS? Its about 15-20% more too.
Edit: Never mind... didnt know bonus to crit damage was applied there...
So now I am even more confused on the damage displayed is as it accounts for crits too and spells can crit... so wouldnt think +crit would up the damage number and also when you do crit, making it proc twice... if that makes sense... bleh!
"Damage" is the literal DPS for your character after all your gear/stats/traits are taken into account, not how much damage you do per hit (personally I wish that they had labeled it "Total DPS" or something). The "damage" number takes into account the raw damage and delay on the weapon, any +damage affixes, +damage%, increased attack speed (IAS), your job's damage modifier, crit+%, crit damage+%.
1) If you have a weapon with 1,000~1,000 base damage, 1.0 attacks per second, and a 0% crit rate (at +100% damage), your "Damage" will display 1,000. 100% of your attacks will do 1,000 damage.
2) If you have a weapon with 1,000~1,000 base damage, 1.0 attacks per second, and a 20% crit rate (at +100% damage), your "Damage" will display 1,200. 80% of your attacks will do 1,000 damage, 20% will do 2,000.
3) If you have a weapon with 1,000~1,000 base damage, 1.0 attacks per second, and a 20% crit rate (at +200% damage), your "Damage" will display 1,400. 80% of your attacks will do 1,000 damage, 20% will do 3,000.
In all of those cases, your non-crit hits will still only do 1,000 damage.
The DPS listing on a weapon only takes into account the base damage and delay of the weapon (and any straight +damage and IAS affixes, I think?). The little "Damage" tooltip, however, will take into account all your stats and whatnot.
Yes, but several things that are taken into account on the "damage" number on your stat screen are not taken into account on the DPS of the weapon. That's why weapons that list lower DPS on the tooltip can give you higher damage numbers if they have a nice bonus to your damage stat or critical damage.
But yes, what the guy above you said is pretty confusing lol.
Sorry, realize it was confusing... I understand how the damage number is displayed, but am confused how abilities from that are calculated.
For example, Meteor does 200% weapon damage. So say you use the Raldo Example #1, It would hit for 2000 damage. But now say you get 100% attack speed, so have 2.0 attacks per second. Meteor would still only do 2000 damage then right? My "damage" stat may say doubled with the IAS, but its really not since I am limited by AP and can only cast 2-3.
Next example, Venom Hydra. It does 18% of weapon damage per second, so for example #1, would be 180 per second. But upping IAS or crit wouldnt up the hydra damage as it doesnt crit and since I can only cast 1, IAS does nothing. So looking at the "damage" stat would be very misleading for comparing gear really right?
Basically, trying to maximize my damage in inferno, but since I am on the move a lot, IAS doesn't help with damage, more survivability, and Crit doesn't help Hydra... so not sure if those are really worth it in the end.
I hope they completely ruin IAS like they are hinting at. You would think that people making RPGs would have learned by now to be a lot more careful about haste effects.
Frankly, I'd say leave it as is for animation sake, but instead tie resource generation to a system where faster = less, and maybe a bonus to slower weapons like DH gaining Discipline faster if they can't attack as quickly. Animation lock is one of the reasons I currently favor hand crossbows since you can kite and shoot more quickly.
Yeah, if I had to guess, I'd say IAS wouldn't affect spells like Meteor much. It may speed up the animation (and thus, reduce the amount of time that you're rooted in one place) however.
It doesn't speed up the time it takes for the meteor to fall does it? That would at least appeal to me.
So, reading a bit more on testing, damage over time spells like ray of frost and venom hydra (not blozzard) do get a damage boost from crits and ias.

Had the answers I was looking for.
So is Pony level the best area to farm in terms of speed/ease or is there any other area worth going to for repeats?
So who can teach me to farm Pony Inferno level?
how to farm inferno pony:
step 1. be ranged class
step 2. win
rinse and repeat
not even joking
Ok this is the list of farming area in Inferno.
Act I:
1. The goblin in the Dark Cellar from Old Ruin Waypoint.
2. The gold from Royal Crypt
3. Running Warden/Butcher
Act II:
1. Farming Goblin in the Act 2-8 from Desolate Island. ( I like this one the best because you get decent items, easy to do it with any class )
Act III:
1. The Respelent Chest from Underbridge
2. 5 NV stacks Siegebreaker
3. Azmo runs
Act 4:
1. Aspect farming has been nerfed.
2. The goblin in Garden of Hope 1st Tier waypoint is nerfed.
Anyone know any other farming spots? Act 3 has the keep deep 1 waypoint chest farm but it was nerfed.
Quick question for Life On Hit stat, for a WD that the main source of damage is poison darts with splinter rune, Does life on hit proc for each dart that lands or each attack made ie 1 splinter dart that hits for the 3 times then the life on hit proc's at this point?
Would anyone be willing to open up inferno end of Act 3 for me so I can grab inferno pony plans? Battletag is Falaras1950
