When it says "Elite Kills" on our profiles, does it just give us 1 elite kill for entire blue packs and 1 for yellow mobs? Or does it give us 1 for each blue mob, each yellow mob, and each mob in a yellow mob's pack?

Elite kills are incremented for 3 types of monster kills. Each rare monster (only 1 per "yellow" pack), each champion pack (last one of "blue" pack), and unique monster (any purple name). Minions (each white mob in a yellow's pack) will not count as an elite kill.
Question!
If I have my GF get the starter edition to try it out, and she likes it, is the progress able to be carried over to a purchased version?
So I'm getting back into the game. Got some mediocre AH gear for my Sorc. At around 150k DPS.
What should I be working on currently? Crafting/Getting plans for upgrades (i hear crafting is good now)? Working on hellfire rings? (need to look up how to do this). Ubers? (no idea how to start these). General farming...?
Make a HC character if you haven't, that's where the real fun is. Most of us play HC so there are actually people to play with from here.
I die ALL THE TIME currently. I can't imagine playing HC in this game.
You just have to be aware of your surroundings, it really isn't as bad as it seems. I thought the same thing before I started HC because I died a lot in SC. It was mainly because either I was just not giving a fuck doing things like facerolling MP10 and stuff.
Ala -- just take things slower. Like Arx said, be aware of your surroundings. Check out the affixes on packs before running in. Pay attention to your mini-map so if you need to bail out of a situation, you know a clear/safe path to run. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS stack tons of HP.
If you start of any of the classes between monk, witch doctor, or barb, you'll be fine. Those are generally more survivable than DH or wizard, and would be good to start with for your first trip through HC. And, again, echoing what Arx said, there's a few of us who play HC and would be happy to help you out.
Thanx, I'll give it some thought and probably try it out. Won't be til after this weekend though. Thanx for the advice!
Question about how equations / formulas work in Diablo III. I took dodge with the assumption that it would be easy to test since the only thing that I am aware of that influences base dodge chance is your dexterity. First column is dexterity, second is the value when you hover your cursor over your dexterity, third is the value given in the menu after you click the details button.
Which value is the one used when taking into account other dodge bonuses? Why are there two values? What exactly is the pattern that takes into account of the weird number discrepancies between the hover value and the details value?Code:100 10.00 10.0 101 10.02 10.0 102 10.05 10.0 103 10.07 10.1 104 10.10 10.1 105 10.13 10.1 106 10.15 10.2 107 10.18 10.2 108 10.20 10.2 110 10.25 10.3 111 10.28 10.3 112 10.30 10.3 113 10.33 10.3 114 10.35 10.4 115 10.38 10.4 116 10.40 10.4 117 10.42 10.4 118 10.45 10.4 119 10.47 10.5 120 10.50 10.5 121 10.53 10.5 122 10.55 10.5 126 10.65 10.7 128 10.70 10.7 134 10.85 10.9 135 10.88 10.9 140 11.00 11.0 141 11.03 11.0 142 11.05 11.0 160 11.50 11.5 187 12.18 12.2 200 12.50 12.5 210 12.75 12.7 224 13.10 13.1 247 13.67 13.7 249 13.73 13.7 272 14.30 14.3 286 14.65 14.6 294 14.85 14.8 302 15.05 15.0 304 15.10 15.1 309 15.23 15.2 325 15.62 15.6 333 15.83 15.8 334 15.85 15.9 341 16.03 16.0 345 16.12 16.1 339 15.97 16.0 362 16.55 16.6 364 16.60 16.6 380 17.00 17.0 382 17.05 17.1 387 17.18 17.2 389 17.23 17.2 390 17.25 17.3 392 17.30 17.3 399 17.48 17.5 400 17.50 17.5 401 17.53 17.5 403 17.58 17.6 408 17.70 17.7 413 17.83 17.8 417 17.93 17.9 424 18.10 18.1 429 18.23 18.2 436 18.40 18.4 443 18.58 18.6 450 18.75 18.8 452 18.80 18.8 455 18.87 18.9 457 18.93 18.9 458 18.95 18.9 461 19.03 19.0 462 19.05 19.1 468 19.20 19.2 472 19.30 19.3 477 19.43 19.4 487 19.68 19.7 490 19.75 19.7 491 19.78 19.8 493 19.82 19.8 496 19.90 19.9 497 19.93 19.9 498 19.95 20.0 499 19.98 20.0 500 20.00 20.0
Does anyone actually know how to arrive at the exact values (both the hover and the detail) displayed in the game?
The good crafting now is with demonic essences, they use slightly less regular mats + 1 demonic essence, and create one item based on a stat you choose, which is account bound.
You can buy most of the demonic essence crafting plans for like 1k at auction, they'll also drop all the damn time anyway. Demonic essences just drop while you're doing other shit, so you basically just decide which spot you wanna spend em on until you get a really good piece.
Hellfire rings come from Ubers. Long story short, there's 1 special mob, keymasters, in each act; 1-3 drop keys, 4 drops the machine recipe (only need the recipe once). You combine 1 key from each act 1-3 to make a machine. Each machine will pop one of the 3 ubers. The 3 ubers can each drop 1 of the 3 items for crafting hellfire ring.
100% on mp10, 10% on mp1, both for they keys and the crafting items from the ubers themselves.
My advice would be to go get your recipe from a4, then figure out what mp you can efficiently farm keys on. You can then do your "general farming" (which includes demonic essence farming) via get 5 stacks > kill keymaster > kill any close elites > rinse and repeat. You should also pick up your first demonic essence recipe (which one depends how rich you are -- shoulder is the spot you can get flat out the best item for the slot, whereas gloves/ring/neck give amazing stats but if you're super super rich you may not need) and start crafting those in the process.
If you're the type to do seriously long sessions, you can also just do straight full playthroughs now with solid results, and get all the keymasters on your way through.
Ring?
So I've been playing with a Wizard ShockNadoShards build and having a lot of fun with it, though ranged attackers still kick my teeth in. But have a couple questions:
I've been using Chantado's will/force as weapon/source combinations (with life steal on the wand). Is there anything better I can use? Or should I just stick with these and keep looking for better DPS versions for small improvements, since I need Arcane-on-Crit?
What's the best gloves/belt I should be shooting for?
Is a crafted account bound Ammy better than a good Tal's?
What farming path do you guys normally do? I've been doing Act 1 final quest on MP7 atm (working up to MP 10 as DPS goes up).
Answered most of my own questions on some other forums, but was just curious still:
What do you guys consider an efficient farming time/location?
I can clear MP7 (usually doing last quest of Act 1) in about 30-40 min.
Or I can clear MP5 on the same route in about 10-15 minutes..
I want to say MP5, but record the EXP from a few runs of each and go from there.
This explain the Archon Item crafting pretty well.

Can I get a price check on this? I checked AH but couldnt find anything that has all these stats to compare with. Thank you in advance! (This is SC, not HC)
