I'm pretty sure Microsoft has a super secret agreement with battery companies. When my 360 controller battery goes to half life the X flashes every 30 seconds, therefore draining the battery even faster, forcing me to replace them more quickly, which makes me spend more money, which obviously there is a kickback going to Microsoft. Seriously though that's a pretty lame thing to do. I often feel like I should lock the door after my classes start though, it's really distracting to have people wandering in half way. Doesn't mean I'd do it though!

I had a professor who did this to me twice. The first time I knocked on the door until a classmate let me in. I was three minutes late. The second time I was two minutes late. She made it a point to tell us all that if we are late we are not going to be admitted to the class. I found a maintenance worker and got him to let me in. I spoke to her after class and explained that I was coming from work everyday. She understood and began waiting five minutes after class began to lock the door which for me was much appreciated. I was only late three or four times and it was literally a matter of minutes and I was very clearly coming from work because I was still in uniform etc.

Reviews work. Everyone dropped a professor's classes two semesters in a row at my younger brother's school. He stopped being a dick after that.
My school was a 25 minute drive from my mother's but it would take about 2.5 hours due to traffic. I was late for my first class often, by a few minutes and he would always be a dick about it. Got to the point that if I was two minutes late I would rather skip the class than d al with his shit. I eventually dropped the class. I am wasted money that semester.
I think it is fucking retarded to have me pay for something and then put arbitrary stipulations like to that on it. Shit happens. 5 mins late to class is not really something anyone should hold against a student. 15/30 sure. No excuse to be a fucking dick. Pay attention to your students, pull them to the side and talk to them like adults. Positive reinforcement works better than punishment or shaming.

Being constantly late, even 5 minutes late, is annoying as fuck. Learn from your damn mistakes and leave a little earlier.

I had classes that would drop your grade a letter if you missed more than 2-3 classes or were late an equivalent number of times, and failed past 4-5 absences. My gf's school drops a grade past two absences and a letter for each one afterward, and I think expels you for more than two Fs. It's serious shit.
