I have the regular staff, but I can't upgrade to Nightmare or Hell? Why is this? Do I need to get the crafting recipe in those respected difficulties before hand?

Yes. The potion vendor by followers sells them in act 4. He doesn't always have them, so just keep reloading.

I've found that if you are on the Prime Evil quest in Act IV he will have the plan for sale every time.

If anyone needs the inferno plan, my toon is parked in that act right now, so I can let you in my game to get it.

Yeah, you need to have beaten Izual in NM to get the NM staff recipe etc. Since you got the recipe from Izual in the first place.

I added ya. It really helps raise the confidence level. I haven't even tried Inferno in like a week after being so destroyed in it. Leveling sort, and farming as Monk.
