i do think that certain things in the poopdeck would not get much traction here. I honestly think Trayvon might be one of them. Bringing feminism topics over makes sense because a large potion of highly active posters do take part in such activities.

What do I want? Hm. I want to make the same salary as a man for doing the same job. I feel like that's fair. I want to be able to make decisions about my health and body without input from the masses. I feel like that's fair. I want people to stop using the word rape as a colloquial toy, but I realize that words only have the power one chooses to give them or acknowledge they have, and frankly words are laughably irrelevant in the face of the fact that my health rights and pay rights are still that of a second class citizen. I want to be able to walk in the streets at night by myself, but I recognize that even men cannot do that safely, so i understand that theres danger in the world and anyone can be assaulted or mugged/shot/stabbed in the streets, not just raped. So i am careful. I'm realistic. I try to stay objective about things like this. Pick your battles. I get pissed at feminists who get all fucked up over word choice. Go put your energy into something that matters and stop making us look dumb.

Ultimately I guess what I'm actually asking is if the general public truly believes that a plurality of women would lie about being raped for attention/power/whatever, and if so why they would believe that. This woman was wrong, but I don't see why she needs to be made an example of when I really don't see false claims being THAT common.

Both examples that place a woman into a subservient position with motives having to do with being under a man's thumb in some way. I'm saying some women just do things to get ahead, not necessarily to catch back up. Either way it's wrong and that should be the focus, not her gender pronoun.
