Backstory please. I do payroll at my company.

Well, started working May 13th, got told NOTHING about the pay/how it works, and the only thing my "Boss" knows about is just the log in terminal. The paperwork for me to even start working got put in late, so then I just started using time sheets (since the login software didn't have me in the system yet). I was told I had to turn them in on friday (25th) (other girl who used to work on campus thought so too), we did so. Turns out that they had to be turned in 2 fridays ago (The 18th) and we were supposed to predict how much we were going to work the following week, and then submit changes after the fact. Paychecks/deposits go out on friday (1st), but I won't get mine until the next pay period (which is june 15th). Next weeks my last week here anyways, so I don't get paid until a week after I stop working (this job). Apparently it takes longer than 4 days to process 1 check...

I thought it was common protocol for every company to explain pay practices during training/orientation. Apparently I was wrong. Dumb question but that first week did you bother asking anyone other than your "boss" about how you would be paid? HR or Payroll in particular? Most low level members of management don't know shit about hiring practices or payroll practices and aren't able to answer questions.

Well considering he hired me, works at the school and is the one providing my pay, he would know.

I'm working at an internship, but getting paid for it -- paid research. It was a "Hey, you're doing research with me next year, but I can offer you a job, 37.5hr/week for a month after school ends." Then I fill out paperwork for student employment, who was supposed to tell me shit according to the lady that helped us get this sorted out today. He's a professor here, he got a grant to pay me, and he hired me... this job is anything but typical in my experiences.
