I'm really not sure how you can totally blame the president solely for that when it takes more than one man to prevent job growth. Please tell me how anyone can claim that they support job growth when most of the spotlight they're getting are for bills for abortion and trying to symbolically repeal Healthcare Reform the umpteenth time.

Well, it's not like anything the House could do to help the economy would pass anyway. The Senate wouldn't take it up. Unless you believe raising taxes on the rich will help.

It kills me how people can attribute job growth, and the economy writ large, to just the president. This is a free market, after all. The only jobs the administration can actually create are public sector government jobs. But if Obama does that, he's growing Washington too big and creating too much bureaucracy. Catch-22.

Democrats attribute all the growth during Clinton's years to him only. Why does it now surprise you that Repub's would attribute all the negatives to Obama?

I"m not saying it's a silver bullet, since there is no such thing in this situation, but it's a start. Boils down to the fact that people never pay their actual % of taxes because of deductions. Plenty of rich people have been and remained super wealthy when the top tax bracket was 75-90% yet these days they bitch and moan about how they're going to live when their tax rate are going to go up to even 40% because it prevents them from having a frivolously ultra wealthy lifestyle.

They attribute it to him because the plans he laid out weren't 90% cock blocked by a Congress hell bent on preventing him from doing anything. If Obama's plans were actually passed with minimal alterations and the country is still in the shitter then, yes, blame the hell out of Obama.

It doesn't surprise me, I guess I just hate oversimplification. It's like their opinion of a president's policies is just the aggregate of unemployment numbers and the Dow Jones, and if things are going bad, the answer is "create more jobs!" Sounds easy enough, right?

Everyone needs a poster child and a scapegoat.

The POTUS is the easiest for either, since he's commander in chief. CEOs get blamed and called before congress all the time, because they're ultimately responsible for the organization.

I typically see that attributed to Clinton and the fact that there was a congress that worked with him. Unlike now where congress absolutely will not work together at all, which means nothing is getting done.

It's almost as if people have forgotten how bad the economy was when W left.

Lame duck, people were already on to blaming Hillary and Giuliani as early as 2006.

When Obama took office, unemployment was at 8.3%, now it's at 8.2%.

GDP Growth when he took office was roughly -6.7% (worst point since the great depression), now it's at around 2%.

We've given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life," Mrs. Romney said on ABC.
Yes, thank you Ann[toinette]. Can we have cake now?

Trying to put my biases aside for a moment here but it's still hard to tell if that was just a gaffe or if she really meant it like that. I mean, we are talking about the woman who was talking about relatability to the middle class while wearing a $900 blouse.

Before I start getting flak for that last sentence... I know it's better to take the high ground and not point things like that out but if the conservatives are going to include things like Michele Obama's $540 sneakers while at a Food Bank in their assault against her, then it's 100% fair game to point out Ann's $900 blouse while talking about relating to the middle class despite being super rich.

Where'd he go? Where's his witty comeback? I haven't seen a rebuttal of this yet! Where do the Repubs always run off to when this nugget of truth is presented to them? They're like rats scurrying away from a bright light or something, whenever this point is brought up.

About Ann: I'm pretty sure she was referring to the media, but yes, its always awesome when someone slips up with the "you people" line.
