brb using my One to go hack starbucks into giving me free coffee
Shit i've been doing it wrong these past few years. Why did I ever bother using Kali when I could just use an Iphone?!Glenn Beck thinks Watch Dogs teaches you how to hack the real world
The cameras do spot you, it's called a ctOS scan. That's the yellow area dots you run from. Its not automatic, were left to assume because the tech isn't there yet. You even hear the cops on the radio say something like "requesting permission for ctOS scan" (paraphrasing).
The cops also have to request ctOS intervention when you close a garage door or bring up a barrier to undo what you did. I thought it was a neat little touch they added.
Special cameo in Act 2
Spoiler: show
in one of the privacy invasion sidequests too
I'm almost finished with the game at this point and the only time I recall ctOS scans happening(aside from scripted mission events) is when a civilian witnesses your crime and calls it in. Never had a scan initiated by being spotted by a camera. The cameras do spot you, it's called a ctOS scan.
You have, its part of one of the first missions and most side quests that involve police chases. You probably weren't paying attention to the police radio.
those are what i would consider "scripted mission events."its part of one of the first missions and most side quests that involve police chases.
That contain ctOS scans. Its a thing, don't worry.
you're really missing the point here lol...
he's SPECIFICALLY talking about a camera seeing you commit a crime in a NONSCRIPTED scenario.
I'm pretty sure you could shoot someone in front of a camera and as long as no one calls the cops, you don't get in trouble, ever. which is ridiculous. whether automated, or having people monitor feeds, you should be noticed, even if only occasionally
Are you trying to claim that the big circle scans actually have anything to do with the cameras? If you want to use your imagination with the Barney Bag, that's your prerogative.
Word, it's not like this technology isn't already being exercised right now.
It's pretty dumb to litter the world with security cameras that apparently serve no function in the world other then to be hack targets for the evil terrorist.
I've definitely enjoyed it, and as I've said, given that it's costing me 20 bucks all told it was more than worth it. However given how much they played up the "big brother" and "constant surveillance" as big themes in the game, and marketing, the fact that it doesn't actually happen in the game feels like a glaring omission, not a minor nitpick, something that could have helped bring it from being just an ok game, to being a good one.
They seem to do the same thing as your phone just for the authorities. The cameras just cant see you though because of your l33t skillz
