Has me honestly excited. I'm glad they are giving people who played at start the ability to come back and test out 2.0 for free (I think I read this was the case) so I can see what's new. I had such high expectations for FF14 and they dropped like a rock but hopefully this will redeem it.

Quick question, are they revamping the entire class system? Some of the characters in those screen shots look like paladins and dark knights. o_O?? I have no kept up to date on FF14 at all for quite some time so no clue what has been changed.

All people who own an account will be able to play the 2.0 beta, definitely.

Paladin is Paladin, the dark knight-looking one is Dragoon. Those are the Job forms of the current classes Gladiator and lancer, respectively. They're meant to be group-oriented and specialized. The job system is in the game already (all of the combat classes have a job associated with it) and will be expanded on some time after 2.0 (more classes and jobs will be added).

There are no "stakes." I don't bet real money with random internet people.

Also your entire argument has evolved so much. Initially it was "Yeah there's going to an expansion worth of content they're going to add to this that we're still going to pay for" and now it's a "bonus item".
It "evolved" to "people can log into 2.0 at no extra charge, but will be missing something unless they pay extra money" exactly two posts after I first mentioned it. That would be 3 pages ago.

And really, I would be shocked if they didn't at least give 2.0 retail buyers a Garlond Goggles/Hermes Shoes equivalent. You seem to see the issue as "there's no way 2.0 retail will include anything but a standard account key," whereas I think there will definitely be something extra with retail and the only question is as to whether it's a useless throwaway item (e.g. Asuran Armguards), a pretty useful item (e.g. XI Nexus Cape), or some gameplay add-on that every serious player will want (e.g. XI ACP).

The important part, though, is not the perceived desirability of the retail bonus. The real test will be if extra content is made available for existing players to purchase directly. If it's not, then you're right and SE is playing nice. If it is, they're trying to reach into our pockets. Fair enough?

Is it honestly that hard a concept to grasp that SE have stated that there will be no additional purchase for anything v2.0 if you have already purchased and registered a key within the period of when the game was first released til then, even then thats all you will be purchasing is the product key, nothing more nothing less and the only other time that SE will want money from you is for the subsciption fee. Now theres nothing wrong with having the opinion that they may pull a dick move like that but from the way that it comes across when reading your posts is that your stating it as fact not to mention doing so over 3 pages

some would disagree. personally i think i'd have put up with some of the bullshit, or at least stayed subbed for new content if the graphics weren't so intensive (as it currently is) that it threatened to melt my graphic card. it was just terribly optimized.

sure, it looks great, but in any pc game the fundamentals are still the same. hardware > software. the game isn't gonna go far if the infrastructure its built on sucks, and if 80% of the playerbase cannot run it optimally.
also don't forget the gfx is one reason why the game is so laggy/slow/doesn't display more than 30(?) models at once.

it was definitely something that needed to be tackled early on.

Kagari's interview has been posted over at rpgsite.

Relatively little new information there, but I'm still looking forward to the impressions of the 2.0 realtime demo, details of which have been up to now relatively sparse.

And will probably stay like that. He just showed his character running around a couple of locations. No battle, nothing else pretty much. Well, one site mentioned the inventory bags but it sounded like it was incomplete or a place-holder.

RPGSite: With the PS3 version are there any plans to do anything extra for those fans who have waited so long? If they haven’t played the PC version there’s no way they can get in on some of the stuff that has happened with that version story-wise and bonus-wise. Will there be anything for PS3 users to try and entice them to play the game?
Yoshida: We will probably have some sort of pre-order campaign like we always do. We don’t want to do anything that will make both versions totally different. We want to respect the fact that there’s a lot of players playing now and stuck with us during the hard times and yes we do have those bonuses [for PC players] but we feel they deserve them. It’s not like those bonuses will give players an extra advantage, so we’re not thinking of anything that will make the PS3 version completely different, but that’s not to say that there won’t be something in the pre-order campaign that will be specifically for those new players.
amg pre-order bonuses designed specifically for new players. THANKS FOR SWINDLING US SE.

You might have to buy retail 2.0 in order to unlock PvP/summons/free companies/chocobo raising/the rest of new 2.0 content, but if you just want to play a reworked XIV with new graphics, there's no extra charge for that.

So you started by Glenn Becking and saying "I'M NOT SAYING THEY'RE GOING TO CHARGE FOR CONTENT IN 2.0, I'M JUST SAYING THEY HAVEN'T DENIED THEY'RE GOING TO,"and mentioning expansion level, "premium content" to equating it to a fucking hat and gloves that are useless past level 10. It's very hard to tell if you're trolling, being purposefully obtuse, or just arguing for the sake of arguing.

    tl;dr

I'm sure THM will get WHM as a job in the PS3 version, it's totally the most logical decision because CNJ is already a great healer so the other class needs to be on par with it.

I think I've made my position clear: I believe there will be some sort of extra content at 2.0 that is not available to legacy players for free. Whether it's a useless trinket or something significant is yet to be determined.

We'll see when it comes out.

how about you all just ignore Spider-Dan? He has been shitting up/trolling this thread for the last few pages and he obviously has no intention to stop no matter how big of an idiot he makes himself sound. If you all just ignore the troll they go away.

That, or get a mod to temp-ban him (which can prolly be done after how much he has shat up this thread)

Just recently ordered the game because it came up at like 15 bucks on amazon. Anyways. It sounds like you are speaking in past tense about the GPU issues and how SE utilized the GPU's. Has that been fixed or changed? Should I place settings at next to nothing and build up so as to not destroy my GPU?

The GPU issues have not been fixed. I have GTX570 and I run pretty hot (85~87C) with this game on high settings.

Not fixed yet, though it seemed to me to be a bit better than it was at launch. Supposedly it'll be a 2.0 thing.

The best thing they've added graphically is the ability to cap yourself at 30fps.
