Hmm you could be right. I've never thought of it that way. The lore doesn't seem to explain it, much like a lot of things in the unused areas. Those ruins far north of Treespeak could use some lore too. But maybe that will be one of the landmarks in V2.

While there isn't nearly enough unique landmark stuff like this, the stuff they do have (Verdant Drop, Gelmorra Ruins, Moonspore Grove, Goldleaf Dais) are completely unused thus far. I'm sure plenty of it is inevitably lost to the sands of Tanaka. One thing I did notice is three amber stone-like objects (same color as the stone in the cave for the DRG quests) in some corner by Fallgourd Lake... they vaguely look to be the shape of Tonberries (IMO). I managed to get up to Gelmorra Ruins once somehow, and all around the circular ruins are those same amber stones.

Another quick question. Is it possible to change servers? I googled it and didn't come up with much anything. IIRC, I started on rabanastre but I'd like to switch or just start anew if I find some friends elsewhere (though I don't think I know anyone that plays).

Not anymore currently, I think they might still have transfers for EU players to Ragnarok? but that might be done too. The big server swap-event took place a few months(?) ago; you're out of luck for now.

Durandal is indeed the best. If you're intent on transferring you'll need to wait until 2.0 unless you reroll.

damn, that was my question, and unfortunately not the answer i wanted to hear , however, i may re-roll a toon on Durandal anyway /shrug. my guys is only 32bsmith28glad and some other various low level stuff... worth it? would you be my friends?

Yes, Rabanastre is now Durandal.

To avoid making this a shameless plug towards Tyche, shepardG, and Buffy I'll just say you can PM me if you're interested in joining a shell or message me in game. I've recruited a few people off BG already (Rocl, solracht, and Ratatapa) so you're free to ask them about the quality of us since obviously a shell leader will have some bias.

Archer turns into Bard, and afaik, a Bard has a spot in almost everything excepting sometimes Ifrit? I mean it can work there, fking three braindead badgers could work in Ifrit (inb4 the next time someone sees me it's me falling out of the Bowl of Embers dead)

The only jobs I find people adverse to using out of the 7 (PLD, WAR, BRD, DRG, WHM, BLM) are DRG and sometimes PLD.

Archer turns into Bard, not Ranger which has left a sour taste in some people's mouths. Overall though, yes it's a desired job and used in almost every instance.

As far as general information, the best source of it is probably just going to be to ask. Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I don't believe Eorzeapedia is that well kept with that kind of stuff. That said, it does have some decent quest information and mooglebox.com and mozk-tabetai.com are the two best equipment databases. Disciplesoftheland.com is one of the better resources for gathering jobs, but Mooglebox rivals it pretty well these days.

Archer ends up something more like FFXI's Corsair imo. That weird sort of hybrid support-DD.

As for general reading up on things, that's actually a bit of a difficult question lol. I don't know of any sites that would answer that sort of question.
